Twinsie Tuesday - Mix and Match

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  It's been a while since I've been able to participate in Twinsie Tuesday, but things have calmed down, and I'm getting back on track.  I love Twinsie Tuesday because it often pushes me out of my comfort zone with nail art.

That said, today is all about mixing and matching.  I decided to use some nail vinyls that I have.  It was my first time and I think it came out pretty well!

Dreamland Lacquer Great Romances Valentine's Day Trio Swatches and Review

Press Sample
Hi everyone!  It's been a while.  Life always has it's way of forcing you to slow down, but I'm glad to be back to painting my nails!

Today I'm really excited to be sharing with you the debut of Dreamland Lacquer, formerly known as Smitten Polish.  This is a change in name only; Dreamland Lacquer will continue to produce quality and gorgeous polish that has become synonymous with Smitten Polish.

To kick off Dreamland Lacquer, they are releasing the Great Romances Valentines Day trio.  They are available now until January 23rd 2pm Central for a 24 hour preorder and will be available again through the end of February from DreamlandLacquer.com Let's take a look!

Dreamland Lacquer Breakfast at Luke's.
"For Lorelai Gilmore, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  Because COFFEE. Because Luke."
This is a Tiffany blue microglitter holo.  I really love when Noelie does these.  I want one in every color!  The formula is easy to work with and not too thick, but I can see this getting thicker the more you use it.  Also, with glitter there's always a pay off.  You will find glitter in places you never thought possible after taking this off, but a little glitter never hurt anyone.

This is 2 coats.

Dreamland Lacquer Burned Jam in Vermont.
"Olivia Pope and Fitzgerald Grant.  Hot. Cold. Off. On. Smoldering. Sexy ... Sometimes life distracts you from the dream, and when that happens... your jam gets burned."
This is 3 things: jelly, thermal, and flakie.  The flakes shift from orange to green, but in most lights look orange.  When warm it's a slightly dark red and when cold it turns into this even sexier blackened red.  The formula on this is very easy to work with.  The color change is pretty sensitive and almost instantly changed colors.  It changed so fast I had a hard time telling if it was a bald spot or it transitioned already!  My nails are currently really short and my hands are always warm, so these photos show it in it's warm state and in transition.  Also, this dries to a rubber finish, so if you want it shiny add top coat!

This is 3 coats (with topcoat).

Dreamland Lacquer I Made a Promise.
"What Valentine's Day would be complete without a polish inspired by the world's greatest bromance? I Made a Promise is inspired by the One Ring, and the promise of Samwise Gamgee to never leave his friend Frodo Baggins."

More of the holo micro glitter!!  This time in gold and with a scattering of larger holo glitter.  The formula is like Breakfast at Luke's and very easy to work with.  As always with glitters, you may need an extra coat of top coat to smooth it all out.

This is 2 coats.

Dreamland Lacquer is definitely starting the new year off right with this collection!  If I had to pick a favorite, I'd definitely have to go with Burned Jam in Vermont.  Be sure to check out Dreamland Lacquer at the following spots!

Will you be picking any of these up?  What has been your favorite Smitten Polish.  Let me know in the comments!

Smitten Polish Between the Baubles

Hi everyone.  Can you believe it's already March?  I still feel like it should be January!  Well I'm excited for March, because in the polish world that means green polish everywhere and I love my green polish.  In light of that I had to put one on.

Smitten Polish Between the Baubles is actually from their Christmas Collection and I have no idea why it took me so long to wear it, but it's gorgeous!  It's a beautiful murky dark green holo and application was perfect!

This is 2 coats.

Smitten Polish Nimbus

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Today I have another gorgeous polish from Smitten Polish!  Nimbus is a creamy off white, dove gray with one of my favorite things: holo!  It's so dreamy, soft and delicate, but the holo gives it a little edge.  My mom is already demanding to borrow it lol.

This polish was a little thick, but went on without a hitch and was suprisingly opaque.

This is 2 coats.

If you've fallen in love with this like I am, Noelie just stocked the shop and Nimbus and Seasonal Lattes are in stock on smittenpolish.com.  Both retail for $11.  Also, if you're still lemming Girl Sprouts, it's on sale with a few others for $9.  For more Smitten Polish info, make sure to check out their Facebook.

Smitten Polish You Saucy Minx

Press Sample

Today I have another gorgeous lacquer from Smitten Polish.  I believe all the others have been holos, but this one is a jelly with duochrome pigment.

You Saucy Minx has a blue/purple jelly base and with lots of duochrome shimmer that shifts from a reddish copper to green.  The coppery color is the most dominant under bright lights while the green peaks out at certain angles and in certain lighting, especially the shade.

Since this is a jelly base, it is a bit sheer and can be layered, but it does build up to a nice opacity.  Other than that, it applies perfectly.

This is 3 coats.

Smitten Polish Seasonal Lattes

Press Sample

Hey everyone!

Today I have another lacquer from Smitten Polish today!  This one is from the Fall 2014 collection, and is aptly named Seasonal Lattes.  It's a dark chocolate brown linear holo that almost looks a little bronze.  Now I have shied away from brown in the past, but this gorgeousness here?  I may love it more than my pumpkin spice latte and that's saying something.

This applied nicely and was just slightly thicker than some other holos I have from Smitten Polish, but not in a bad way.

This is 2 coats.

Proud Beauty Bloggers of Color in Green: Smitten Polish Girl Sprouts

Hi everyone!

Today the Proud Beauty Bloggers of color have decided to show off in green!  I have another green holo from Smitten Polish (I showed you Electric Lime earlier last month).  Just like with Electric Lime, I'm in love.  Girl Sprouts is a gorgeous midtone green linear holo.  What's not to love?

Girl Sprouts applied really well, so no complaints there.

This is 2 lovely coats.

Smitten Polish Electric Lime

After swatching all those neutrals, I just had to put on something nice and bright . . . and holo!  So out of my untrieds pile came Smitten Polish Electric Lime.  This is a neon holo green.  I'm now kind of obsessed with it.  It looks good in both dull lighting and in the sun (I hate how some holos look kind of blah when you can't see the flame).  In really dull lighting, it looks like a bright green with lots of golden shimmer.

This applied nicely.  First coat is pretty sheer, but it does build up.

This is 3 coats.

Smitten Polish Who Steals a Dead Woman's Shoes over China Glaze Secret Peri-winkle Blue

Since I was going to the midnight showing of Oz the Great and Powerful, I decided to put on a Wizard of Oz themed nail polish.  I haven't bought any of the OPIs from the collection, but I had just purchased some of the Wicked themed polishes from Smitten (can't wait to try Look to the Western Sky) and on went Who Steals a Dead Woman's Shoes.

Who Steals a Dead Woman's Shoes is full of different sized silver glitter as well as pale blue glitters in a clear base.  You can either layer it over a polish or use several coats to try and get it fully opaque (this took about 4 coats).  I chose to layer it over China Glaze Secret Peri-winkle Blue to help it maintain more of it's blue hue, but it's also lovely over silver.

Application was normal and applied like most glitters.  I have no complaints here.  It was still a bit bumpy after a coat of Seche, but it's not nearly as "top coat hungry" as I expected

These pictures show 2 coats of Secret Peri-winkle Blue with 2 coats of Who Steals a Dead Woman's Shoes.

Smitten Polish Mint Chip

Mint and chocolate.  I absolutely hate that combo whether in cookie, candy, or ice cream form.  I want to throw something at whoever came up with it.  (I know I'm in the minority here.)  Despite all this, I just had to buy Mint Chip because it was such a cute concept.

Mint Chip is a light green that leans slightly blue with both small and large brown glitter suspended throughout.  It was a little uneven, but top coat fixed all of that.

Random thought: I really wish more indies would put balls in their polish to make shaking up more effective.

This is 3 coats.

This can be purchased on Etsy or Llarowe.  (It's on sale at Llarowe right now!)
