Zoya Whispers Collection

Press Sample
Hi everyone! Today I have Zoya's Whispers collection to show you.  This is a collection of 6 cremes that are intended to be kind of an interlude between winter and spring.  These colors are subdued and four out of six can be worn in a conservative work environment.

The formula on these was pretty nice and pretty easy to work with.  The first coat did tend to be streaky, but the second evened everything out.  All photos show 2 coats with top coat.

Twinsie Tuesday - Recreate a Twinsie's Mani

Hi everyone!  It's Twinsie Tuesday!  Today's theme is centered around recreating a fellow Twinsie's mani.  There are many talented nail artists in the group, so it was hard to pick one, but I decided to go with some inspiration from Lisa over at The Polish Playground.  Her manis are always so cute and I love her color combos.  Plus I'm kind of obsessed with her rounded nails.  If I thought I could pull them off I'd totally shape mine that way.

The mani I chose to recreate is her Distressed Pastel look.  Like Lisa's, mine didn't quite turn out distressed looking, but I think it looks pretty cute!

For this look I used:

  • China Glaze Something Sweet
  • China Glaze At Vase Value
  • Jessica Lime Cooler
  • Vernis Classique by Cherimoya Electric Heaven

Be sure to check out the other Twinsies!

Polish My Life Good Morningside

Hi everyone! Today I just have a quick NOTD (nail of the day) using Polish My Life Good Morningside.

It's a gorgeous yellow creme.  Yellow does not get enough love in the polish community, but I love it so much!  The formula on this was pretty good.  It wasn't thick or gloopy at all.  It does streak a bit in the first 2 coats, but other than that, it has a lovely formula, especially for being a yellow.

This is 3 coats.

I bought this a few weeks ago, but I no longer see it on the site.  There are plenty of other pretty cremes to check out though!

Maybelline Lime Accent

Today I have a quick post of Maybelline Lime Accent from the Bleached Neon collection for Summer 2014.  I was unable to find any of these , but @fembot310  was kind enough to gift me the whole collection and I'm so appreciative!  These are gorgeous!  How can you ever go wrong with pastel neons?

Lime Accent is the green of the bunch.  While really bright, it also has a white base, making it look like a pastel neon.

Application wasn't the greatest, but still manageable.  It definitely goes on streaky, but things eventually even out.

This is 4 coats.

Zoya Awaken Collection for Spring 2014 Swatches and Review

*Press Sample*

Hey everyone!  I'm a little late to the party, but today I have swatches of Zoya's Spring 2014 Collection Awaken.  It's filled with lots of pastels (which are mandatory for spring), shimmers, and a few cremes.  Let's get started.

First up is Dillon.  Dillon is a pastel mint with tons of shimmer.  The shimmer is mostly white with hints of gold.  It reminds me of a turned up version of Sinful Colors Mint Apple.  Definitely one of my favorites in the collection.  Formula was nice.  It applied evenly and didn't require an insane amount of coats.  These pictures show 2 coats.

Next is Brooklyn.  Now I have to admit I wasn't that excited about this one.  It's not a color I'd normally go out and buy.  I prefer my golds darker and more of a bronze color.  Brooklyn is a frosty pale gold that's more of a champagne gold.  It's delicate and the longer I wore it, the more it grew on me.  I loved the way it looked in the shade or dim lighting.  It almost glowed.  Aside from brushstrokes, this one was a winner in the application department.  This is 2 coats.

Cole is the one I expected to be my favorite.  It's a creamy pastel orange and I absolutely love it in the bottle, but it didn't look that great on me.  I had some trouble with the formula.  It went on streaky and uneven.  This is 3 coats.

Hudson is another one of the shimmers in this collection.  It's a pastel, slightly muted purple with loads of gold and white shimmer.  Very pretty, but not for my skin tone.  The formula was nice.  No complaints.  This is 2 coats.

Rebel is the last shimmer of the group.  It's light blue with white shimmer.  My younger cousin said it reminded her of the movie Frozen.  Like the other shimmers, the formula was nice and it went on perfectly.  This is 2 coats.

Dot is a lovely work appropriate ballet pink.  I got lots of compliments wearing this one.  While I love how it looks, application was painful.  It was streaky, didn't want to even out, and all around finicky.  This is 4 coats.

And last but not least, we have the glitter topper Monet.  The glitters in this are pastel and iridescent.  I love the concept, but the formula left a lot to be desired.  The base was almost gel like and it made it difficult to apply.  This is one coat over dot.

Over all this is a lovely collection for spring.  My personal favorites were Dillon, Brooklyn and Dot.

The Awaken Collection and Monet are available on the Zoya website and retail for $9 each.

These items wee sent for my honest review.  For more information, please see my disclosure.

Orly Melodious Utopia

Can I just say that I love yellow polish?  I love it but I have so few in my collection and half of them are neon.  I need more in my life.

So today I decided to wear Melodious Utopia which was apart of Orly's Hope and Freedom Fest Collection for Spring 2013.  It's a lovely squishy pastel yellow with shimmer that shifts subtly from gold to orange to pink.  It's definitely a unique polish.  I don't have anything like it in my collection.

Application on this wasn't horrible like a lot of yellows, but it wasn't anything to write home about.  It's also a bit thick.

This is 3 coats.  I had a hard time capturing the shimmer, but if you enlarge the second picture it's more visible.

My Picks from the China Glaze City Flourish Collection

Hey everyone!  Today I have a few of my picks from China Glaze's City Flourish collection for Spring 2014.  Lets get started.

First up is Grass is Lime Greener.  This one is a pastel green creme.  Its pastel but bright at the same time.  I love it!  I don't think I have anything like this in  my collection.  It dries matte like a neon and unfortunately suffers from "streakyness."

This is 3 coats with top coat.

Next is Metro Pollen-tin.  Its a bright pastel yellow-orange creme.  This one applied the worst  out of them all (typical yellow).  It went on streaky and dried matte like a neon.

This is 3 coats with top coat.

Next we have At Vase Value.  This one is a pastel blue creme with hints of green.  It's just slightly greener than your typical baby blue and to be honest, most wouldn't really notice.  Like the others this also dries matte and applied streaky.

This is 3 coats with top coat.

And last, I have Thistle Do Nicely.  This one is definitely neon!  I picked this one up because it was a neon pink that was slightly coral and I thought it could be a dupe for the original Flip Flop Fantasy.  It's close, but more pink.  Like most neons it dries matte.  This one was also a bit streaky but was easier to work with than the previous three.

This is 3 coats with top coat.

Now I have to say that I love colors like these!  They're really bright and almost look like they've mixed neon pigments with white.  A few of them remind me of some swatches I've seen of Lime Crime polishes.  Due to their pastel/neon nature, they don't have the greatest application.  They are streaky and as you can see in my pictures, they don't "level" very well even with top coat.  I'm thinking of picking a few more of these up.

Do you plan on getting anything from this collection?

EDIT:  I posted a review of What a Pansy from the same collection here.

Throw Back Thursday: MAC Peppermint Patti

For Throw Back Thursday, I have MAC Peppermint Patti.  It came out sometime in 2009 and promptly sold out.  Subsequently, the mint craze followed.

Now, it's not exactly the most unique polish out there, but it makes me feel a little nostalgic lol.

The application was just a hot streaky mess.  The formula on this is not the greatest, but I managed.

This is 3 coats.
