Twinsie Tuesday - St. Patrick's Day

Hi everyone! Today I had every intention of doing some nail art, but I cut my finger while chopping onions last night.  Yay me!  So today you get a simple look but still in the St. Patrick's Day spirit.  I even managed to blur out the cut for you guys :)

I used 2 coats of Elevation Polish Hinglajgarh Forest (discontinued), which is a creamy, holo, medium/light green and as an accent I used 3 coats of Orly Bling, a gold, holo micro glitter in a clear base.

Orly Lucky Duck

I hope every one is enjoying their weekend so far!  Today I have Lucky Duck from Orly's Birds of a Feather collection for Fall 2011.  It's a dusty green cream that leans a little teal.  I reminds me of OPI Jade is the New Black.

Application was nice.  No complaints there.

This is 2 coats.

Orly Melodious Utopia

Can I just say that I love yellow polish?  I love it but I have so few in my collection and half of them are neon.  I need more in my life.

So today I decided to wear Melodious Utopia which was apart of Orly's Hope and Freedom Fest Collection for Spring 2013.  It's a lovely squishy pastel yellow with shimmer that shifts subtly from gold to orange to pink.  It's definitely a unique polish.  I don't have anything like it in my collection.

Application on this wasn't horrible like a lot of yellows, but it wasn't anything to write home about.  It's also a bit thick.

This is 3 coats.  I had a hard time capturing the shimmer, but if you enlarge the second picture it's more visible.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  I was determined to attempt some nail art.  As most of you know I'm not huge on nail art.  I love it, but I'm terrible at it and lack patience so I mostly sit back and admire everyone else's fabulous nail art.

For this look, I used Zoya Sooki, Illamasqua Boosh, Color Club Ruby Slippers, and Orly Fancy Fuchsia.

Hope everyone's day is filled with lots of love no matter where it comes from!

Orly After Party

After Party is from the Orly's Feel the Vibe Collection for Summer 2012.  It seems to be a navy shimmer, but if you look close it's more.  It has a lot of blue/teal, pink/purple shimmer in a blackened base.  It's very pretty and applies well, but a top coat is definitely needed since it dries a little flat.

Orly Cashmere Cardigan

I was in love with this polish when it came out in 2009 and I still love it now!  It's such a gorgeous periwinkle blue that straddles the line between being purple and blue.

This is 3 coats.

Orly Glowstick

It's been so hot lately.  While the rest of the country seems to be cooling down for fall, LA is just heating up. So in honor of the heat, I bring you Orly Glowstick a super bright neon yellow.  I mean highlighter yellow.  I mean so neon it kinda looks green.

As with most highlighter yellows, you may find it easiest to layer over white.  I however didn't.  Application wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either.

This is 4 coats.

This picture was taken under artificial light.

Orly Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy is from Orly's Sweet Collection for Spring 2010.  It's a nice peachy pink and works great as a pallet cleanser for me.

I have no complaints about application.

This is 3 coats.

Essie Mojito Madness and a Comparison

Mojito Madness is one of the stand out colors from Essie's Bikini So Teeny Summer 2012 collection.  It's a bright, light green creme.

Application wasn't my favorite.  It's a bit on the thick side and doesn't self level.

This is 2 coats.

When I put Mojito Madness on, it instantly reminded me of  Orly's Mint Mojito.  They're close but not the same.  Mojito Madness has more blue in it, darker and more opaque than Mint Mojito.  They may be similar enough for some not to own both, but as someone who has more than 1,000 polishes, I couldn't resist :D

Orly Stone Cold

Stone Cold is from Orly's Mineral FX collection from 2011.  It has a blue base with blue tiny flaky like shimmer.  Application was just okay.  It was a little on the thick side and shrunk a bit at the tips.

This is 2 coats.

Orly Rock Solid

Rock Solid is from Orly's 2011 Mineral FX collection.  It's a gorgeous shimmery gunmetal gray color with holo glitter for good measure.  I can't say I have anything just like it in my collection.

There's nothing to complain about in terms of application.  The first coat went on shear but the second coat made everything opaque.  Some people may need three coats.  Removal, however, was a pain like a regular glitter.

This is 2 coats.

Orly Space Cadet

I don't know what it is with me and taking so long to try out polish I've bought a year(s) ago.  I'll just say I'm reminding everyone of that awesome polish they bought a while ago.

Anyways, Space Cadet is a gorgeous polish.  As a duochrome it flashes gold, green, and purple.  It comes on pretty sheer at first, but because it's a duochrome and so pretty, I don't mind.  If you can't find Space Cadet or don't want to pay $10, Hard Candy has a dupe called Beetle.

This is 4 coats.

Orly Fancy Fuchsia

This one is from Orly's 2011 Spring Collection.  I almost passed it by a few times, but randomly got it in a bout of retail therapy and I wasn't disappointed.  For some reason I had a hard time applying it, but it wasn't the polish's fault.  I'd swatched it on my fingers before and it went on great.  It was probably because I was in a rush.  If I'd been more careful I could have gotten away with 1 coat.  Instead I did 2 to even it up and cover some bald spots.  Either way, that's not bad.

Again, this is 2 coats.

Orly Glitz & Glamour and China Glaze Lightening Bolt

Orly Glitz & Glamour is from the 2010 winter collection.  It's a beautiful shimmer/metallic gold.  I have no complaints about application, and it only took 2 coats to be opaque.  This reminds me a bit of OPI DS Glow.

I think gold and white is such a pretty combo, so I decided to test out China Glaze Lightening Bolt on top.  I obviously layered it a bit too thick on my index finger lol.

Orly Snowcone

Snowcone is a pretty periwinkle blue and comes from a collection of pastels.  Pastels are notoriously known for their horrible applications, but this is a pastel that only needs one coat to be smooth and opaque.  That alone makes this polish a winner.

Orly Shine

This is a pretty foil silver.  I needed two coats for opacity, it applied pretty decently and it dried lightening fast.
