Indies Outside the Box: Fan-tastic Customs January 2017 Swatches and Review

Hi everyone!  Today I have another installment of Indies Outside the Box to show you!  Indies Outside the Box is a quarterly box started by the creators of Lollipop Lacquer and Top Shelf Lacquer.  The box consists of 4 polishes, one from Lollipop Posse Lacquer, one from Top Shelf Lacquer, and the last 2 from guest brands.  Each polish will be a custom inspired by photos chosen and voted on by fans in the Indies Outside the Box fan group.  The guest brands for this box are Girly Bits and Paint Box Polish.

Law Beauty Essentials Swatches and Review

Hi everyone!  I graduated and took a little break, but I'm back!  Today I have some polishes from Law Beauty Essentials to show you.  The bottles have a square shape as does the top, much like Butter London.  The caps come off to allow for easier application and the brushes are wide with slightly rounded edges, similar to Sally Hansen brushes but a tad less wide.  Each bottle has .37 fl oz of product.  This brand is also 5 free!  Let's take a look.

Twinsie Tuesday - Mix and Match

Hi everyone!  It's been a while since I've been able to participate in Twinsie Tuesday, but things have calmed down, and I'm getting back on track.  I love Twinsie Tuesday because it often pushes me out of my comfort zone with nail art.

That said, today is all about mixing and matching.  I decided to use some nail vinyls that I have.  It was my first time and I think it came out pretty well!

For this look I used:
-A black polish
-Dreamland Lacquer (formerly Smitten Polish) I Made a Promise **
-Whats Up Nails Vinyls
-OPI I Snow You Love Me
-Quick Dry Top Coat

KBShimmer Birthstone Collections Swatches and Review (partial)

Hi everyone!  This post has been a long time coming and I apologize for not getting it out sooner!

The Birthstone Collection is a set of polishes inspired by birthstones that represent each month.  They all have platinum flakes in a colored base with holo micro glitter.  It's such a pretty finish and I really enjoyed these.  The formula is easy to work with and they aren't impossible to remove like regular glitter (though you will find a few stray flecks here and there).

All photos are 2 coats!

Dreamland Lacquer Great Romances Valentine's Day Trio Swatches and Review

Hi everyone!  It's been a while.  Life always has it's way of forcing you to slow down, but I'm glad to be back to painting my nails!

Today I'm really excited to be sharing with you the debut of Dreamland Lacquer, formerly known as Smitten Polish.  This is a change in name only; Dreamland Lacquer will continue to produce quality and gorgeous polish that has become synonymous with Smitten Polish.

To kick off Dreamland Lacquer, they are releasing the Great Romances Valentines Day trio.  They are available now until January 23rd 2pm Central for a 24 hour preorder and will be available again through the end of February from DreamlandLacquer.com Let's take a look!

Dreamland Lacquer Breakfast at Luke's.

"For Lorelai Gilmore, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  Because COFFEE. Because Luke."

This is a Tiffany blue microglitter holo.  I really love when Noelie does these.  I want one in every color!  The formula is easy to work with and not too thick, but I can see this getting thicker the more you use it.  Also, with glitter there's always a pay off.  You will find glitter in places you never thought possible after taking this off, but a little glitter never hurt anyone.

This is 2 coats.

Dreamland Lacquer Burned Jam in Vermont.

"Olivia Pope and Fitzgerald Grant.  Hot. Cold. Off. On. Smoldering. Sexy ... Sometimes life distracts you from the dream, and when that happens... your jam gets burned."

This is 3 things: jelly, thermal, and flakie.  The flakes shift from orange to green, but in most lights look orange.  When warm it's a slightly dark red and when cold it turns into this even sexier blackened red.  The formula on this is very easy to work with.  The color change is pretty sensitive and almost instantly changed colors.  It changed so fast I had a hard time telling if it was a bald spot or it transitioned already!  My nails are currently really short and my hands are always warm, so these photos show it in it's warm state and in transition.  Also, this dries to a rubber finish, so if you want it shiny add top coat!

This is 3 coats (with topcoat).

Dreamland Lacquer I Made a Promise.

"What Valentine's Day would be complete without a polish inspired by the world's greatest bromance? I Made a Promise is inspired by the One Ring, and the promise of Samwise Gamgee to never leave his friend Frodo Baggins."

 More of the holo micro glitter!!  This time in gold and with a scattering of larger holo glitter.  The formula is like Breakfast at Luke's and very easy to work with.  As always with glitters, you may need an extra coat of top coat to smooth it all out.

This is 2 coats.

Dreamland Lacquer is definitely starting the new year off right with this collection!  If I had to pick a favorite, I'd definitely have to go with Burned Jam in Vermont.  Be sure to check out Dreamland Lacquer at the following spots!

Great Lakes Lacquer December Limited Editions - Droid 1 and Droid 2

Hi everyone!  Today I have Great Lakes Lacquer's December limited editions!  This time around they're a duo collectively called These are the Polishes You are Looking For.  If you're a fan, you already know these are Star Wars inspired!

Great Lakes Lacquer Droid 1.  This is a dense gold holo glitter in different shapes and sizes in a clear base.  By the gold alone, you know this is a reference to C-3PO.  It can be worn alone or layered.  The formula on this is nice.  It's not to thick and the glitter spreads evenly.  Here I'm showing it layered over black.

This is 1 coat over black.

Great Lakes Lacquer Droid 2.  This is another glitter topper.  Inspired by R2-D2, it has a clear base with blue, black, and white glitter and shimmer.  It's pretty easy to apply, isn't thick, and no fishing necessary.  Here I'm showing it over OPI Embrace the Gray.

This is one coat over OPI Embrace the Gray.

Hi everyone!  I hope your week has been going well so far!  Today I'm showing you the November Limited Edition from Great Lakes Lacquer.  These will be available starting October 31st 3pm EST!

Great Lakes Lacquer Thanksgiving Bay.

"November signals the coming of the Holidays for many.  It’s a time to remember, a time to give thanks, and time to spend with family.  It also marks my wedding anniversary.  To the man who has stuck by me, supported me, and pushed me to be my best, thank you.  We spent our honeymoon over on the west coast of Michigan, driving along the lake."

This is a gorgeous deep aqua/teal with a shimmer that shifts green to blue.  The shimmer in this is pretty subtle in most lights, but it's definitely visible in sunlight.  The formula is a little bit on the thicker side, but it's still easy to apply.  

This is 2 coats.

Great Lakes Lacquer Freer Sand.

"As we were traveling up and down the coast, following the lake, we noticed that the cabins and houses on the other side of the road really didn’t have lawns of grass so to speak.  The blowing winds had created sandboxes of the yards across the way.  One owner had stuck a sign in a particularly large pile stating “Freer Sand”.  A humorous jab at a frustrating situation, perhaps?  It will always be a part of our marriage vocabulary."

Freer Sand is a gold holo micro glitter and is aptly named because it's definitely reminiscent of sand and it's gorgeous.  Let me tell you the photos do it no justice!  The formula on this is definitely on the thick side, but creator Mariah has informed us that she'll be tweaking it to make a thinner formula in time for the release.

This is 2 coats.

Twinsie Tuesday - Inspired by the Season

Hi everyone!  I've been taking a bit of a blogging break, but I'm back today with a Twinsie Tuesday mani inspired by the season.  I decided to go with a fall inspired look because the weather here in LA has been anything but fall like!

I went with a glitter gradient and it didn't quite come out how I envisioned (the base is to dark for my taste), but I kind of like it.

For this look I used:

• China Glaze Electrify (from the Hunger Games Collection)
• OPI Thrills in Beverly Hills Top Coat

Delush Polish Dames of Thrones Swatches and Review

All you Game of Thrones fans gather round!  Delush Polish is releasing a fall collection inspired by the women of Games of Thrones called Dames of Thrones!  The collection consists of 7 glittery polishes and will be release September 25th 12pm EST.

*Just a general note on application before the review.  Because these are all glitters and quite a few have larger glitters, be sure to wait a bit between coats to avoid dragging the glitter!  Also, I did not do any glitter placement techniques when swatching these.  I gave them a good shake and applied straight out of the bottle.  All swatches are topped with top coat.

Pahlish Objects of Curiosity - September 2015 Duo

Today you get a double dose of Pahlish!  This is the duo for September 2015.  It includes a glitter topper and a gorgeous base and will be available from Pahlish.com for the month of September!

Palish Little Bells.  This has a deep blackened violet blue jelly base with very subtle purple flecks and shimmer.

This is 2 coats.

Pahlish Forty-Four Sunsets.  This is the topper of the duo and it's one of my favorites of all the duos I have!  It has a clear base and is fill with copper glitter as well as ultrachrome flakes and a heavy dose of violet shimmer.

This is one coat over Little Bells.
