Great Lakes Lacquer September Limited Editions

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Can you believe August is almost over?  I'm so ready for fall to be here; it's my favorite time of the year.  You know it's coming when you start seeing pumpkin spice everywhere.

Today I have two gorgeous limited editions from Great Lakes Lacquer that will be available all through the month of September.

Great Lakes Lacquer Mother's Mauve.  My Mom’s birthday is September.  She’s a lady with a heart of gold; one of those ladies that is a Mom to everyone.  All of my close friends have called her Mom and do to this day.  This color is a dedication to her.  In my teenage years, I remember her bedroom being an explosion in mauve.  All tones of mauve.  She tells me that it needs to lean more pink but this is the color I remember.  See?  Still Mom.

I'm not usually a mauve kind of girl, but this one is a stunner.  This is a very purple mauve with a gorgeous gold shimmer (which I've been obsessed with lately) and a hint of holo.  Application was easy peasy.

This is 2 coats.

Great Lakes Lacquer Harvest Moon 2015: Come, Reap.  In traditional folklore, the Harvest Moon is the one that comes closest to the autumnal equinox.  This year’s Harvest Moon lands on September 28th.  In years of old, the light of the Harvest Moon illuminated fields so that farmers could continue harvesting that year’s bounty.  It signified the reaping of hard work and a close to the growing season.  A time of celebrating and a time of reflecting on what has been sewn, it is the end of one stage in nature and the beginning of another.  For those of you who recognize the phrase in the name from a book, there will be more to come by next year’s Harvest Moon.

This is a lovely orange leaning red jelly with shimmer!  I really love this one and it works from both fall and summer.  Application on this was nice, but I'd recommend waiting between coats.

This is 2 coats.

KBShimmer Winter 2014 Collection Selections

Press Sample

Collection selections.  I swear I didn't do that on purpose.  Maybe...

Today I have some of KBShimmer's Winter collection to show you.  I can't believe it's that time again.  It feels like 2014 just started!

On to the swatches!

First up is Let's Sleigh Together.  This polish has a pale/light gray crelly base that borders on being white with blue, mint, and green glitter as well as some smaller holo glitter pieces.  This applied easily.  No complaints.  This is 3 coats.

Zoya Naturel Collection Swatches and Review

*Press Sample

Today I have some swatches of the new Zoya Naturel.  It consists of 6 polishes and as the name suggests, focuses on a neutral color pallet.

First up is Chantal.  Described as a french vanilla cream, Chantal is the lightest of the bunch.  A lovely nude with some peach undertones.  This is 3 coats.

Next is Taylor.  This one is described as a light toffee cream.  It's a bit darker and more brown than Chantal.  This is 2 coats.

Chantal/Taylor comparison:

Next is Rue and is described as a boudoir blush cream.  I really loved this one.  This is 2 coats.

Now things are starting to move into mauve territory with Bridgette.  It's described as bombshell mauve.  I don't think I have any mauves in my collection that I can think of off the top of my head.  I kinda like it.  It's not bad, but still not my favorite polish color.  This is 2 coats.

Zoya calls Odette a sultry maroon cream.  This is 2 coats.

Last but not least is Normani, a sable mauve cream.  It's one of those taupes that lean a bit purple that have been really popular.  Very pretty, but not the most unique.  This is 2 coats.

******

Overall this is a very nice collection of neutrals.  Perfect as a palette cleanser or for times when a more conservative polish choice is necessary.  The formula on these were good with the exception of Chantal.  It wasn't terrible, but it was the only one that needed 3 coats and required a little more effort to apply.  My favorites in the collection are Rue and Chantal.

The Naturel Collection is now available on the Zoya website with each polish retailing for $9.00 ea (US).

Will you be buying any of these?  Which ones?
