Twinsie Tuesday - Inspired by the Season

Hi everyone!  I've been taking a bit of a blogging break, but I'm back today with a Twinsie Tuesday mani inspired by the season.  I decided to go with a fall inspired look because the weather here in LA has been anything but fall like!

I went with a glitter gradient and it didn't quite come out how I envisioned (the base is to dark for my taste), but I kind of like it.

For this look I used:

  • China Glaze Free Bear Hugs (from the Fall 2015 The Great Out Doors Collection)
  • China Glaze Electrify (from the Hunger Games Collection)
  • OPI Thrills in Beverly Hills Top Coat

Twinsie Tuesday - Ocean Inspired

Hi everyone!  Welcome to another edition of Twinsie Tuesday!  Today's theme is ocean inspired, so I decided to take this time to practice my nail art.  It didn't come out perfectly, but I wouldn't call it a complete fail.  Living close to the ocean on the west coast, we get to see the sun set over the ocean, so I decided to go with that and added a little island and palm tree.  Here's how it came out(I really wanted to mattify it, but of course my precious Essie Matte About You has gone missing):

Polishes Used:

  • China Glaze Givers Theme
  • China Glaze Snow
  • China Glaze For Audrey
  • China Glaze Stoked to be Soaked
  • Great Lakes Lacquer The Triathlon Trainer
  • OPI Kiss Me I'm Brazilian

China Glaze Tickle My Triangle - Throwback Thursday

Okay everyone, we're going to pretend like it's still Thursday.  I had this mani on and completely blanked on making a blog post!

Tickle My Triangle (is it just me or is this supposed to be naughty? lol) is a medium pink/fuchsia scattered holo and  comes from the Kaleidoscope collection that was released in 2007.  This collection is definitely a classic and one day I'll own all of them.  I think I'm just missing Rated Holographic and Spin Me Around.

This goes on perfect in 2 coats.

Do you have any of these?  What's your favorite China Glaze collection?

Essie First Timer and China Glaze Point Me to the Party

Press Sample
Hi everyone, just a quick post of my NOTD (nails of the day).

I used Essie First Timer which is from the 2013 Resort Collection.  It's a gorgeous light, but bright, green creme.  The formula on this was perfect.  It wasn't thick or streaky and went on perfectly!

This is 2 coats.

Then I layered China Glaze Point Me to the Party on top which is a neon multi colored glitter in a clear base.  Check out my review of this and the rest of the Electric Nights Collection.

Twinsie Tuesday - Neon

Hi everyone!  Today's Twinsie Tuesday is all about neon so I'm wearing this China Glaze untried Sun of a Peach.

China Glaze Sun of a Peach is a bleached orange neon and it's a beautiful color.  That said, the application was horrendous!  It streaked, had bald spots and needed way too many coats.  Let's just say I wasn't quite saying sun of a peach while applying this.  It has the kind of formula that makes you feel like you've never painted your nails in your life (and we all know I've done a lot of that).

Anyways, this is 4 coats.  It's so pretty.  To bad the formula left so much to be desired.

Twinsie Tuesday - Watercolor Nails

I'm a little late with my Twinsie Tuesday post, but I had a presentation today and things have been so crazy it slipped my mind.

Anyways, watercolor! I've been meaning to try this out for a while and this was the perfect opportunity.  There are a couple different ways to go about this, and I decided to do use sharpies since that's what I have (I guess I should invest in some acrylic paints).

water color sharpie nails tutorial

Materials:

  • White Polish (I used China Glaze Snow)
  • Matte top coat (I used Essie Matte About You)
  • Sharpie markers (Use whatever color you want, just make sure they're "juicy")
  • Plastic ziploc bag
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Small paint brush (I used the ELF concealer brush that I use for cleanup)
  • Top coat (optional)
Steps:
  1. First paint your nails white and after it's dry apply your matte top coat.  The matte topcoat helps the the water color stick to your nail.
  2. On the plastic bag color a section with one of the sharpies.
  3. Dip your brush into the alcohol and "mix" it with the sharpie that you colored in on the plastic bag.
  4. Using the same brush dab it on your nails however you want.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 using different colors and until you get your desired look.
  6. You can leave as is if you like the matte look or you can add a top coat for some shine.

Twinsie Tuesday - Seasonal Opposites

Press Sample

Today's Twinsie Tuesday post is all about seasonal opposites.  This prompt is pretty broad, but since it's spring and its opposite is fall, I'm going to go with a tape mani using two colors that represent opposite seasons.  I used China Glaze Dashboard Dreamer, a pastel blue with orange gold shimmer, to represent spring and Elevation Polish Thunder Basin, a dark brown creme, to represent fall.

Twinsie Tuesday - Favorite Discontinued Polish

It's Twinsie Tuesday and today we're talking about our favorite discontinued polish. I've actually blogged about quite a few of these in my Throwback Thursday posts and I guest posted my absolute favorite, OPI DS Glamour, over on Amandaladish's blog a couple of months ago.  So this won't be my absolute favorite, but a favorite. Unfortunately there are just way too many fabulous discontinued polishes out there and I still had a hard time picking one, but I'm going with China Glaze Emerald Sparkle.

Emerald Sparkle is like the deep green version of the ever popular China Glaze Ruby Pumps.  It's green, it's glittery, it has lots of depth and it's discontinued! To add insult to injury one of the batches was a dud (while it's not ugly, it's not green glitter jelly goodness).  It originally came out as a part of the Holiday 2008 collection, but was limited edition. China Glaze if you're reading this (which they probably aren't), bring it back a long with one in every color!

Black, White and Gold Triangle Nail Art

I've been trying to try my hand at a little more nail art lately and I love black and gold together, so I came up with this look!  For most of my nails I used the Saran Wrap method and for my accent nail I made my own triangle decals.

black gold white triangle decals saran wrap nail art

black gold white triangle saran wrap nail art

For this look I used these polishes:
-China Glaze Snow
-China Glaze Mingle with Kringle
-China Glaze Liquid Leather

Saran Wrap Method:
  1. Paint your nails white and let it dry
  2. Get 2 pieces of Saran Wrap and ball them up.
  3. Paint a section of the saran wrap ball with Liquid Leather and dab on a piece of paper to take off some of the excess and then dab on your nails until you get the look you want.
  4. Repeat #3, but with Mingle with Kringle (or another gold).
  5. Seal with top coat and you're done!
Triangle Decals:
  1. On a plastic bag paint 2 strips of polish in Liquid Leather and Mingle with Kringle.
  2. After letting it dry for a minute or two, paint over with them with a quick dry top coat like Seche Vite.
  3. After it's completely dry, peel them off the plastic bag and cut into triangles.
  4. Press them on your nails and top with top coat!
I definitely had fun doing this look and can't wait to dabble in a little more nail art!

Twinsie Tuesday - Soft and Feminine

Today's Twinsie Tuesday is all about soft and feminine.  I chose to use my favorite "my nails but better" shade OPI I Theodora You.  It has that translucent look but builds up, isn't streaky and most importantly, hides my stained yellow nails.  I should probably get a back up.  For that extra "dainty" touch I used China Glaze Golden Enchantment.

This is 3 coats I Theodora You with one coat of Golden Enchantment.

Twinsie Tuesday - Polish Received in a Swap

Hi everyone!  Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is a polish received in a swap.  Now I have to be honest, I don't swap. Okay I take that back.  I did once many moons ago on MUA.  Anyways, I usually don't swap because I love the polish I have and would much rather pay for something I want.  All that aside, the polish I swapped for was China Glaze OMG.  I already had one and I used it so much my bottle was half full.  OMG was getting harder and harder to find and the ebay prices were getting higher, so I got this one as a back up.  I'm trying to remember what I out for it.  It was either one of the Martini Pedicure collections I lucked up on and bought a few of or OPI DS JP Divine.  I'm drawing a blank.

Anyways, China Glaze OMG was my first holo and the polish that propelled me into the world of polish collecting.  Now with all of the indies out there, it's not the most holo nor does it have the best application, but this whole collection will always have a special place in my heart.

And without further ado, I present China Glaze OMG!  This is 2 coats.

Twinsie Tuesday - Match Your Nails to Your Purse

Press Sample

Hi everyone! This week's Twinsie Tuesday I about matching our nails to our purse.  Well, most of my purses are black because I'm boring like that.  My purse that is currently in rotation is an Anne Klein crossbody purse.  It's black with gold accents.  So for today's mani I decided to go with black with gold tips.

For this look I used:
-Zoya Willa
-China Glaze 2030

Throw Back Thursday: China Glaze Crystal Ball

Time for another edition of Throw Back Thursday!  Today is all about the classic China Glaze Crystal Ball.  I found this one dusty hunting some years ago and was so excited.  Now it's really showing it's age.  It's missing it's face (front label is fading) and the silver top is starting to chip off.  The missing face thing has happened to quite a few of my China Glazes and I really wish they would use something more lasting.  That never happens to my OPIs.

Anyways, Crystal Ball is a burgundy shimmer with a sprinkling of micro holo glitter.  It's like the sister of Grape Crush.  I love it, but love Grape Crush a little more.  This is 2 coats.
