Girly Bits and Firecracker Lacquer Drinks on the Beach Duo

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  I've been a bit absent from the blog.  There's been quite a bit going on between job searching and a kidney infection that I'm still getting over, but I'm gradually getting back into the swing of things!

Today I have a duo from Girly Bits and Firecracker Lacquer to show you!  These were inspired by drinks by the water whether it be the pool, the beach, or even sprinklers.  There's nothing better than an ice cold drink by the water on a hot summer day and these seriously have me craving a day at the beach.  It's shameful that I live so close and rarely go!

This duo will be available for a 7 day pre-order from both FirecrackerLacquer.com and GirlyBitsCosmetics.com starting August 6th.  The duo will retail for $20 USD and $26.50 CAD (this price may change based on the exchange rate August 6th).

Let's take a look!

Girly Bits Give Me One Good Raisin

Press Sample

Hi again!  I've got another polish to share with you today!  This time it's Girly Bits Give Me One Good Raisin and I'm absolutely in love with it!

Give Me One Good Raisin is a slightly blackened plummy raisin color with purple shimmer.  It does shift gold in different lighting and angles, but mostly stays a purple color.  Also, did I mention it's holo?  It really is gorgeous and looks great in both the sun and shade!

The formula on this is very easy to work with.  It dries pretty fast to a slightly matte finish because of all the shimmer.

This is 2 coats.

Elevation Polish and Girly Bits Collaborative Duo: Bamboozled

Press Sample

I've got lots to show you this holiday weekend!  This morning I'm showing you a special duo by the makers of Elevation Polish and Girly Bits called Bamboozled.  This duo is inspired by none other than bamboo and each polish represents it in it's dry or fresh state.

Elevation Polish Arashiyama.  It's a sandy brown nude with charcoal flakes and holographic pigment and represents bamboo in it's dry state.  It's gorgeous in the bottle and I wish it played better with my skin tone.  It looks gorgeous on other bloggers I've seen!  Application on this was perfect; no complaints at all.  (Don't forget to click the name to see google images of the bamboo forest this polish was named for!)

This is 2 coats.

Girly Bits BamBoom!  BamBoom! is a light bright green holo with holo green micro glitters to give it even more sparkle.  It represents bamboo in it's fresh state.  This polish applied perfectly!  Because of the micro glitter, this dries a little bumpy so consider giving it an extra layer of top coat.

This is two coats.

The Bamboozled Duo is limited edition and will only be offered through ElevationPolish.com.  The duo will retail for $22 USD plus shipping and will be available July 7th 9pm CST with a restock happening July 22nd 9am CST.

Girly Bits Howl at the Moon

Hi everyone!  Today I have a polish from Girly Bits called Howl at the Moon.  I think I bought this one almost 2 years ago and I'm just wearing it.  I seem to say that a lot on this blog.  The amount of untrieds I have is ridiculous.  It's probably the size of some people's collections.

Anyways, Howl at the Moon is gorgeous.  It's a blackened blurple (purple/blue) jelly with several sizes of gold hex glitter.  It looks great alone and builds up in 3 coats, or you can layer it.  I chose to layer it over black.  Either way, it looks great.  I'm thinking next time I'll try it over a blurple.  Maybe OPI Do You Have This Color in Stock-holm.  Application on this was nice.  I didn't have to fish for glitter and that's always a plus!

This is 2 coats over black.

Howl at the Moon can be purchased at GirlyBitsCosmetics.com.  Pam's is really sweet and her customer service is great.  (I posted about a minor issue with a polish and she contacted me without me even emailing her to resolve any issues I had!)  Also be sure to check out the Girly Bits Facebook page for more info on current collections and places to purchase.

Girly Bits Into the Night

I bought Into the Night around a year ago.  As you can see this is one of the older bottles with the crystal on the bottle.  Into the Night has lots of holo glitter in a black jelly base.  Now I'm thinking this was just a batch problem, but there were tiny little pieces of black pigment that hadn't quite mixed in all the way (I noticed this when I first bought the polish) and no matter how hard I shook, it still didn't want to mix in.  On the first coat the little chunks would make streaks, but the subsequent coats covered it up.  The first coat is also really sheer, but it builds up nicely.  Like a lot of glitters it was a little on the thick side, but nothing unmanageable.  I also needed two layers of top coat to make it smooth.

This is 3 coats.

Girly Bits Star Spangled over OPI Dating a Royal

I haven't posted in a while.  So many things have been going on, but thank you to those who have stuck around!

Since today is Inauguration day, I decided to get in the spirit with Girly Bits Star Spangled.  I have to say that I was not a huge fan of the way it looked by itself.  The blue and red glitter some how got lost in translation and wasn't as bright and the red glitter wasn't as obvious as I hoped it would be.  So instead of wearing it alone, I layered it over OPI Dating a Royal and it was perfect!  If only pictures could do it justice.

Here's Dating a Royal on it's own with 3 coats:

And here it is with Star Spangled on top:
