Elevation Polish Spam

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Today I have a few Elevation Polishes to show you.  I was a little late to the Elevation Polish party and didn't discover them until late 2013, but since then they've quickly become one of my favorite indie polish brands!

First up is Wai'anapanapa from the Hawaiian Punch Collection.  It has a black jelly base with lots of pink and purple flakie shimmer.  This polish appears to be mostly black, but the flakes peak through and makes things interesting.  Application on this was great.  This is 2 coats.

Quarter Past Midnight is from the Journey Told Through Music Collection.  It's a duochrome that appears blue straight on, but shifts easily to purple.  At random angles you may catch a bit of burgundy and green-gold.  I thought it would be sheer, but after the first coat, it was perfectly opaque.  The application on this was great.  A lot of duochromes are extremely thin, but Quarter Past Midnight has the perfect consistency.  This is 2 coats.

Lost in the Darkness 2 is from The Darkness Collection.  It's a beautiful blue toned green holo with a bit of gold shimmer.  Green + holo so you know I'm all over this!  This one was a tad thick, but still applies very well.  This is 2 coats.

And the last one for today is Limestone from the Stones Throw Collection.  I reviewed this one a while ago and I love it just as much as I did then.  Limestone is an off white (Lulu calls it vanilla white) creme with tiny gold and copper flakes and micro shimmer.  Application was very nice, especially for a white based polish.  This is 2 coats.

Elevation Polish is off this month, so there will be no restocks during the month of March, but all of these and more are still available on the website!  Be sure to check Elevation Polish out at the following places for more info and updates!

Color Me Monthly Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Today's post is about a new to me subscription service, Color Me Monthly.  CMM is a monthly subscription that sends a bottle of polish for the price of $7 per month and free shipping.  Each color is a surprise and is chosen based on color and fashion trends.  I have a few to share with you, so on to the pictures!

First up is Pennywise from October 2014.  It's a duochrome that shifts from pink to orange.  The formula on this was nice.  It goes on sheer for the first coat, which is perfect for layering, and builds up nicely to wear on it's own.  This is 3 coats.

Next is Just For You from December 2014.  This is a bright red shimmer, that was perfect for the holidays.  Nice application, no complaints.  This is 2 coats.

And my favorite is from this month's subscription (January 2015), Blustery Day.  This one is a lovely dusty blue/gray creme.  Although LA weather is anything but blustery, it reminds me of a warm winter sweater.  Application on this one was also very nice.  This is 2 coats.

Over all I enjoyed these polishes.  The price is reasonable at $7 per month and while this may not be for someone like me with 1700+ bottles of polish, it's perfect for someone building up their collection and the average polish user.  It's also great that they have a section call "The Vault" where you're able to buy some of their past colors that you may have missed out on.

Dance Legend Knight

Hey everyone!  Today I have one of the first Dance Legends I've purchased.  It definitely wont be the last!

Knight is a multichrome that shifts from a deep gold to green to a bluish purple color.  This is the only multichrome I've come across that has this bluish color in the shift.  It really is stunning.  I apologize in advance for all the pictures, but I couldn't help it!

Application on this was really easy.  It doesn't need to be layered, although I'd like to try it over black.  I will say that it chipped really fast and some of it peeled off in sheets.  This may be attributed to me washing my hair though, so there's that.  The photos below are shown in both artificial and natural (overcast) light.  I find that multichromes always look very "shifty" in cloudy weather.

This is 2 coats.

Indigo Bananas Swatches and Review

Press Sample

I'm so excited about this post, I don't know what to do with myself.  Indigo Bananas.  I've obviously been living under a rock because these are my first polishes from this indie brand and they definitely wont be my last.  It took me forever to get this post together because every time I went to swatch I had to wear them for a full mani.  Let me stop gushing and get to the pictures.

First up is Bridal Veil.  Silver micro metallic flakies and holo glitter.  What more could a girl ask for?  This is 2 coats.

Next is Abby Normal.  This one is a pink the shifts orange and lots of purple shimmer and holo glitter.  It also dries with a textured finish and to add to it's awesomeness, it glows in the dark! This is 2 coats.

Taffeta, Darling? is the lavender version of Bridal Veil and I love it just as much!  It's delicate and in your face all at the same time.  This is 2 coats.

And the last, but most definitely not least is Galactic Halo (Holo) ... the holo version!  I was speechless putting this polish on.  I didn't want to take it off!  Anything you could want, it has.  Holo? Check.  Duochrome? Check.  Metallic Flakies? Check.  This polish is absolutely stunning and there is absolutely nothing like it in my collection at all!  Can you tell I'm in love?  This is 2 coats.

Smitten Polish You Saucy Minx

Press Sample

Today I have another gorgeous lacquer from Smitten Polish.  I believe all the others have been holos, but this one is a jelly with duochrome pigment.

You Saucy Minx has a blue/purple jelly base and with lots of duochrome shimmer that shifts from a reddish copper to green.  The coppery color is the most dominant under bright lights while the green peaks out at certain angles and in certain lighting, especially the shade.

Since this is a jelly base, it is a bit sheer and can be layered, but it does build up to a nice opacity.  Other than that, it applies perfectly.

This is 3 coats.

Crows Toes Huginn & Muninn

Today I have for you Crows Toes' Huginn & Muninn.  Now, I must admit I had to google what Huginn & Muninn was because I had never heard these names before.  Apparently they are apart of Norse mythology.  They're ravens that fly around the world bringing information to Odin, a Norse god of wisdom.  Huginn (pronounced HOO-gin) is Old Norse for "thought" while Muninn (pronounced MOO-gin) means "memory." (source: Wikipedia)

Huginn & Muninn is a part of Crows Toes' latest collection.  It's a gorgeous duochrome.  Who doesn't love a good duochrome?  This one has a dark blue base and it shifts from green to purple.  The duochrome in this is pretty strong, but looks best in the shade or at certain angles.  When looking at it straight on, it often looks like a purple shimmer.  Still gorgeous.

Application on this was nice.  It was pretty opaque and layering definitely isn't required.

This is 3 coats.
