Twinsie Tuesday - Shiny and Matte Combo

It's Tuesday, so time for another Twinsie Tuesday post!  Today's theme is shiny matte combo.  I decided to try a tape mani and recreate probably the most widely spread nail picture on the planet from Chloe's Nails.  It's been on my list to try since I first saw it on MUA.

It's not bad for a first try, but I was obviously being impatient with the pinky nail, which wasn't quite dry yet when I put the tape on.  Oops!

For this look I used Illamasqua Boosh as a base.

Then used Essie Matte About You to create the matte squares and there you have it!

Be sure to check out the other Twinsies' shiny/matte combos!  I'm sure they were much more creative than me.

Twinsie Tuesday - Inspired by Your Favorite Mug

Hi everyone! Today's Twinsie Tuesday inspiration is my favorite mug.  I have no idea where it came from (my mom bought them for me), but it's definitely my go to for everything, especially hot chocolate and chai tea.  I'm not much of a coffee drinker unless it's in my frapuccino, ice cream, or tiramisu.

For these nails I used the fan brush technique.  For the colors I used China Glaze At Vase Value (I forgot how much this formula sucked!), Essie Greenport, and Elevation Polish Thunder Basin (which came out looking black, but I swear it's brown!).  I love my mug, but this look did not translate AT ALL.  I wanted to incorporate the brown rim in my mani, as well as the random brown dots.  I should have left that out, but I'll definitely try the fan brush mani again soon!  In the mean time, don't laugh!

**Elevation Polish Thunder Basin was sent for an honest review.

Check out the other Twinsie's posts! Hopefully they did better than me!

Twinsie Tuesday - Pinterest Inspiration

Hi everyone! I'm finally able to paint my nails again without screaming from getting acetone in this cut I got on my finger and just in time for Twinsie Tuesday. Today is all about Pinterest inspiration and mine came from PiggieLuv who does amazing nail art that I wouldn't even try replicating, but she had this "simple" look pinned that I thought I could replicate. I attempted to recreate her Neon Sugar Spun nails and failed so hard lol.  I almost didn't even post today because I hated how these came out.  It looked so much easier in the tutorial! I kept getting blobs of polish, or it wasn't stringy enough, or I let it dry too much, the neon orange didn't quite translate over black (make sure you use creamy neons or it wont pop!), etc. I'll try these again one day because I really do love the inspiration.

Nailed it!

Twinsie Tuesday - Anti-Valentine's Day

Hi everyone!  Today's Twinsie Tuesday post is all about Anti-Valentine's Day.  The first thing that popped in my head to do is a gradient from red to black.  My gradient was a bit of a fail.  This look didn't quite come out like I imagined, but it's growing on me.

For this look I used:
-OPI Big Apple Red (one of my favorite reds)
-Wet n Wild Black Creme
-Nicole by OPI Pitch Black Shimmer (this one is a black glitter and hard to find, sorry!)

Check out the other Twinsies' interpretations!

Nude Dotticure with OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy

Today I have some really simple nail art.  It's dotticure week over on the nail board on MUA and since I've never done one, I decided to try.  I wanted something a bit more subtle, so as a base I used OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy.  The one I have is black label (not big 3 free).  I'd forgotten how perfect black label OPI applied as well as how intense the smell is.  I used Wet n Wild Black for the dots.  To make it even more subtle, I made my dots tiny and sparse.  I really like it although I'd probably use acrylic paint and be patient and wait for the dot to dry to avoid the "strings."  Good thing its not obvious in real life.  Damn you macro!

This is 3 coats of OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy.
