Throwback Thursday: Milani Dress Maker

Welcome to another addition of Throwback Thursday! (I'm a little late, but it's still Thursday in Los Angeles!)

In the fall of 2009 Chanel released Jade as a part of their Jade Nail collection from Peter Phillips.  Everyone went crazy for Jade.  It sold out everywhere and started going for exorbitant prices on ebay.  I'm talking $200.  Now you're just lucky to see it pop up on ebay.  Several polish companies tried to duplicate Jade and the consensus seemed to be that Milani Dress Maker came the closest.  Dress Maker came along in 2010 as a part of the Haute Value collection.  Of course it's now also discontinued.

This is 4 coats.

Milani Enchanted Garnet

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!  Today I have Milani Enchanted Garnet from their Bedazzled Collection for Fall 2014.

Enchanted Garnet is one of those glowing ember type polishes with a blackened base and lots of red shimmer.  Very vampy.  No matter how many colors i have like this, I can't help buying more!  This one reminds me a bit of OPI Royal Rajah Ruby.

Application on this was good.  It goes on sheer in the first coat, but quickly builds up.

This is 2 coats.

Milani Sail Away

Sail Away is one of the new polishes Milani released a few months ago.  It's a beautiful navy blue with lots of blue and silver shimmer.  It straddles the line between shimmer and foil and I love it.

Application was perfect.  All you need is one coat and it just glides on.  I had to use 2 coats to cover up some bald spots due to the nail treatment I used as a base coat.

This is 2 coats.

Milani Beach Front

The other day I was shopping at CVS and I saw a display of some new Milani polishes, so of course I had to pick a few up.  Today I'm wearing Beach Front, a pretty sky blue.  It's filled with silver shimmer and reminds me of the finish of Essie's Smooth Sailing.  Application was just okay.  It was really thick and needs some thinner.

This is 2 coats.

Milani Blue Flash

Blue Flash is one of Milani's one coat glitters.  Although they're call one coat glitters, they generally take 2 coats for opacity, but that's still pretty good.  Blue Flash isn't really the most unique glitter in my collection, but it's still lovely with it's blue glitter with some silver in there for depth.

Like I said above, this was 2 coats, but it needed 3 coats of top coat to be completely smooth as it dries to a gritty finish with no gloss.

Milani Sparkling Blue

This polish came from Milani's Back to Color collection in 2009 and is testament that I have an "untried" polish problem lol.  This is a creme blue with holo tiny square shaped glitter and holo bar glitter.  Now in theory, it sounds amazing, but because it's in a creme base, it makes it difficult for some of the glitter to shine through.  Despite that, it's grown on me and I like it.

This is 3 coats.

Milani One Coat Glitter - Silver Dazzle and Giveaway Reminder

I know you've seen these a million times, but I'm going to add in my 2 cents too.  I wore this mani for Christmas Eve and loved it.  The bottle claims that these are one coat glitters.  I wouldn't quite say these are one coaters, they're more like 1 and a half coaters if that were even possible lol.  This glitter is extremely dense and you get a nice full coverage in 2 coats which makes these amazing.  Removal wasn't too bad either ( not like the horror that is Milani Jewel FX in Gold, but that's for another day).

Milani Molten Rock

I saw some swatches posted of these new Milanis online and I had to check and see if my CVS had them.  They did!

This polish is a gorgeous metallic blue with micro shimmer.
