14 Days of Valentines - Manglaze LesbiHonest

Hi everyone!  I skipped 14 Days of Valentines yesterday for Twinsie Tuesday, but I'm back with ManGlaze Lesbihonest.  Be sure to check the links below for what's on everyone else's nails!

Lesbihonest is a fuchsia color with loads of shimmer and it dries matte.  It's really gorgeous with and without top coat and the formula is absolutely amazing.  It goes on smooth, dries super fast, and only needs one coat.  And as always, the ManGlaze label always has some interesting artwork.

This is 1 coat.

Twinsie Tuesday - Shiny and Matte Combo

It's Tuesday, so time for another Twinsie Tuesday post!  Today's theme is shiny matte combo.  I decided to try a tape mani and recreate probably the most widely spread nail picture on the planet from Chloe's Nails.  It's been on my list to try since I first saw it on MUA.

It's not bad for a first try, but I was obviously being impatient with the pinky nail, which wasn't quite dry yet when I put the tape on.  Oops!

For this look I used Illamasqua Boosh as a base.

Then used Essie Matte About You to create the matte squares and there you have it!

Be sure to check out the other Twinsies' shiny/matte combos!  I'm sure they were much more creative than me.

Elevation Polish Street Graffiti Collection + When the Cherry Met the Spoon

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  It's that time for the newest Elevation Polish collection, Street Graffiti, plus the much requested When the Cherry Met the Spoon.  Inspired by some of the great urban centers around the world, there's a little something for everyone.

Let's take a look!

First up is LA (my city of origin!).  It's a white crelly with very subtle pearl shimmer.  I love white polish.  I wear it all summer long and it looks great against darker/tanned skin.  LA is perfect for those who shy away from stark white-out whites but would prefer something more subdued.  The formula on this was pretty good.  It started of a little patchy, but builds.

This is 3 thin coats but I probably could have used a fourth.

NYC is a rubbery black matte cream with a hint of shimmer.  This one doesn't dry really fast like a lot of mattes do, but the formula is good and it looks great both with and without topcoat.

This is 2 coats shown with and without topcoat.

East London is a topper with a clear base and loads of holo and ultra chrome flakes.  I layered it over LA and NYC and honestly, it'd probably look really cool on its own.

This is 1 coat over LA and NYC.

Melbourne is one of my favorites from this collection.  It's creamy dusty blue perfection with gold green shimmer and some subtle holo.  I live for dusty blues like this!  Not only that, but the formula is perfect.  It's ALMOST a one coater.  You could probably get away with it with a thicker coat.

This is 2 coats.

Paris is another favorite.  This one is a plum holo.  I can't tell you how much I love vampy holos and this one fits the bill.  No applications on this one at all.

This is 2 coats.

When the Cherry Met the Spoon isn't apart of the Street Graffiti Collection.  This one started as an SBP (small batch prototype) and with a few changes is now a part of the core collection.  Be sure to check out Ida Nails It for a comparison of the SBP and it's current incarnation!  When the Cherry Met the Spoon is a berry jelly filled with ultra chrome and charcoal flakes as well as a bit of holo.  No application problems with this one.

This is 2 coats.

Overall this collection is perfect.  It's not your typical spring/summer color fare, but the holo makes it perfect for this time of the year and allows these to shine.  My favorites from this collection are definitely Melbourne and Paris.

The Street Graffiti Collection will be available June 7th at 9pm central.  Be sure to check out Elevation Polish at these places for more updates and information!

Throwback Thursday - Orly Satin Royalty

Since demi-matte polishes seem to be the current trend (Zoya Satins, Essie Cashmeres, etc) I thought I'd share one I've had in my collection since around 2001.  Orly Satin Royalty.  This comes from their Satin Hues collection and I'm really not sure when it originally came out, but doing a little search on the internet, it seems these were released around 1998.  All I know is I wore this one quite a bit when I was a freshman in high school.  Check out the old Orly bottle!

Finger Paints Twisted

Hi everyone!  Hope your week is going well.

I little while ago I had someone send me an email complaining that I post too many discontinued items.  I normally post what I have on my nails at the moment.  That's really what I initially started this blog for and that's what I'll continue to post along with some collections.

So heads up everyone, this post contains pictures of a discontinued polish and that polish is Finger Paints Twisted.  This came out in the 2012 Special Effects collection that consisted of 5 flakie glitters in a clear base.  Twisted is a combo of different flakies.  It was definitely not like any of the other flakies I had, so I had to have it and hunted it down at Sallys.  Totally worth it.  Today I'm wearing it over black and matted it with Essie Matte About You.

This is 2 coats over black. Matte.

This is 2 coats over black.  Shiny.  (I have no idea what happened to it's "face."  This always happens to my Finger Paints and China Glaze bottles.  Does this happen to anyone else?)

OPI Ink Suede

It's been a while since I've pulled out an old polish and did a throwback Thursday post, so that's what I did today.

In 2009 OPI came out with the Suede collection that consisted of 6 suede versions of some core polishes.  I bought 4 of them and am now kicking myself for not getting Russian Navy, Lincoln Park After Dark or the later release Here Today Aragon Tomorrow.  Ebay prices are ridiculous!  It's so strange to see something go up in price that much even though it feels like it just came out yesterday.

Anyways, Ink is a dark blue that has a bit of purple and lots of silver shimmer. It is of course matte.  When I put this on, I realized how I'd forgotten how perfectly it applies.  It's slightly thick and goes on opaque in 1 coat and dries almost instantly.  Now I remember why I bought these.  They're perfect for when you're in a rush and don't really have time to wait for polish to dry.  A minute or two after putting it on, you're good to go!  Here's to hoping OPI re-releases these (I won't hold my breath though).

In case you want to see the original Ink: OPI Ink

ManGlaze Santorum

Hi readers!

So today I picked ManGlaze Santorum out of my untrieds.  I rarely wear brown, but I love this polish and I love ManGlaze.  Their polishes are ironically gorgeous, the names are hilarious, and I love the featured art on the bottles.  Also their use of sexual innuendo is second to none.  Its crude and I like it.

Santorum applied perfectly and looks amazing with or without top coat.  I'm wearing it with top coat on my ring fingers as an accent nail.

This is one perfect coat.

Zoya Savita

I think I've said this before, but my untrieds pile is ridiculous.  I bought Zoya Savita when in first came out for Winter 2009.  This is my first time wearing it and it's absolutely gorgeous.  Matte purple with pink shimmer.  I'm sure it's just as lovely with top coat, but I want to wear it matte for now.  I'll probably come back and update this post with pictures of it with top coat.

Application was surprisingly pain free.  It was thinner than I expected and it dries really fast.  It does make flaws in the nails, like ridges, more obvious.

This is 2 coats.

Knock Out Cosmetics Flatte Black

Hands down the best matte black.  It looks like it's just sucking up all the light.  And the bottle is HUGE.  All you need is two coats and three minutes to dry.
