Cirque Colors Metropolis for March 2015

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Every month Cirque Colors adds 1 or 2 colors to the Metropolis Collection that have been inspired by New York.  Today I have Cirque Colors Metropolis Collection for March 2015.

Hudson is a periwinkle blue creme.  It's a little dusty and I love that.  The formula on this was on the thick side, but it still applies very well.  This is 2 coats.

Lady Liberty is obviously inspired by the Statue of Liberty.  It's a beautiful turquoise creme with a perfect formula.  This is 2 coats.

Twinsie Tuesday - Polish Received in a Swap

Hi everyone!  Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is a polish received in a swap.  Now I have to be honest, I don't swap. Okay I take that back.  I did once many moons ago on MUA.  Anyways, I usually don't swap because I love the polish I have and would much rather pay for something I want.  All that aside, the polish I swapped for was China Glaze OMG.  I already had one and I used it so much my bottle was half full.  OMG was getting harder and harder to find and the ebay prices were getting higher, so I got this one as a back up.  I'm trying to remember what I out for it.  It was either one of the Martini Pedicure collections I lucked up on and bought a few of or OPI DS JP Divine.  I'm drawing a blank.

Anyways, China Glaze OMG was my first holo and the polish that propelled me into the world of polish collecting.  Now with all of the indies out there, it's not the most holo nor does it have the best application, but this whole collection will always have a special place in my heart.

And without further ado, I present China Glaze OMG!  This is 2 coats.

Elevation Polish The Walker

This week has been crazy busy and has left little time for blogging, but I got this in the mail and absolutely had to put it on!

The Walker is from Elevation Polish's newest collection Minneapolish, inspired by all things Minneapolis.  It's a purple linear holo and when I say holo, it is HOLO.  In low light areas, the holo is more subtle, but in the sun and in artificial light there is lots of holo flame.  It applies really well.  No need for special base coats and it doesn't dry so fast that it drags.  It's pretty perfect.  (Edit: These pictures are taken without top coat.  After putting on topcoat, the purple color comes out even more.)

This is 2 coats.

Twinsie Tuesday - Match Your Nails to Your Purse

Press Sample

Hi everyone! This week's Twinsie Tuesday I about matching our nails to our purse.  Well, most of my purses are black because I'm boring like that.  My purse that is currently in rotation is an Anne Klein crossbody purse.  It's black with gold accents.  So for today's mani I decided to go with black with gold tips.

Pahlish February Duo - You Give Love!

Press Sample

This week has been a Pahlish kind of week!  Today I have the February duo called You Give Love.  I have to say I fell in love with these as soon as I saw them in the bottle.

Angel's Smile is a beautiful beige/off white nude with gold and copper metallic micro flakies.  I've been buying nudes left and right lately and this one is right up my alley.  The formula on this is perfect.  This is 2 coats.

The second half of the duo is Shot Through the Heart.  This one is a topper with gold, copper, and a sprinkling of green and purple metallic micro flakies along with some holo.  I'm loving how Pahlish has been using these flakies!  Here is 1 coat over Angel's Smile.

Twinsie Tuesday - Anti-Valentine's Day

Hi everyone!  Today's Twinsie Tuesday post is all about Anti-Valentine's Day.  The first thing that popped in my head to do is a gradient from red to black.  My gradient was a bit of a fail.  This look didn't quite come out like I imagined, but it's growing on me.

For this look I used:
-OPI Big Apple Red (one of my favorite reds)
-Wet n Wild Black Creme
-Nicole by OPI Pitch Black Shimmer (this one is a black glitter and hard to find, sorry!)

Check out the other Twinsies' interpretations!

Pahlish Fields of Gold for March's A Box, Indied

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Today I have Pahlish Fields of Gold to show you.  This is exclusive to March's A Box Indied.  The theme for March is "Lucky Charms."

Fields of Gold is a warm gold with lots of gold and bronze "mini" flakes and a subtle bit of micro holo glitter all in a clear base.  I love these gold polishes against my skin tone!  It borders on being neutral, but at the same time its blingy and in your face.

Application on this was nice.  It wasn't too thick and easily controlled.  It goes on sheer the first coat and would look great as a topper.  By the second coat, things are perfectly opaque.

This is 2 coats.

March's A Box, Indied will be available February 26th and retails for $50 USD. There will be 4 other polishes in the box from Girly Bits, Glisten and Glow, Colors by Llarowe and Contrary Polish.  A Box, Indied can be purchased from Llarowe.com.  Don't forget to check out Pahlish at these places:

Throw Back Thursday: China Glaze Crystal Ball

Time for another edition of Throw Back Thursday!  Today is all about the classic China Glaze Crystal Ball.  I found this one dusty hunting some years ago and was so excited.  Now it's really showing it's age.  It's missing it's face (front label is fading) and the silver top is starting to chip off.  The missing face thing has happened to quite a few of my China Glazes and I really wish they would use something more lasting.  That never happens to my OPIs.

Anyways, Crystal Ball is a burgundy shimmer with a sprinkling of micro holo glitter.  It's like the sister of Grape Crush.  I love it, but love Grape Crush a little more.  This is 2 coats.

Twinsie Tuesday - Monochromatic Nails (Smoosh Mani)

It's Tuesday!  Today's Twinsie Tuesday post is all about monochromatic nails, so using the different variations of the same color.  For this I decided to try a nail art technique I haven't used before: the plastic bag watercolor/marble also known as the Smoosh mani.  First thing I did was paint my nails white and let them dry.  Then I dabbed some blobs of different color and while still really wet I dabbed my plastic bag on top and ended up with these!

Plastic Bag Marble China Glaze Aquadelic Well Trained Monochromatic

Plastic Bag Marble China Glaze Well Trained Aquadelic

What You'll Need:

  • Ziploc Bag
  • Scissors
  • White Polish.  I used China Glaze Snow.
  • Different colors you'd like to smoosh together.  I used China Glaze Aquadelic and China Glaze Well Trained
  • Your favorite base coat.  I like to use CND Sticky, ORLY Bonder, or OPI Ridge Filling Base Coat.
  • Your favorite quick dry top coat.  I like KBShimmer Clearly on Top or Seche Vite.

Have you tried this method before?  What do you think?  Don't forget to check out what the other Twinsies have come up with!

Cirque Colors Doyers

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Today I have swatches of Cirque Colors Doyers.  This is the February entry in their on going Metropolis Collection that is inspired by all things New York.

Doyers is a warm bright red creme and leans toward the orange side of the spectrum instead of blue.  I'm not always excited about red, but this is a beautiful classic and perfect if you prefer a warmer red.  The formula on this was a tad bit thick, but definitely workable.  Overall it's a nice addition to the collection, and I still love how Cirque smells like lavender!

This is 2 coats.

Doyers is available over at CirqueColors.com and retails for $13 USD.  What do you think about Doyers?
