Cirque Colors The Metropolis Collection for January 2015: Empire State of Mind and Midnight Cowboy

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Every month Cirque Colors releases 1 or 2 creme polishes inspired by New York City to become a part of The Metropolis Collection.  Today I have January's additions to the collection.

First up is Empire State of Mind.  This one is a deep oxblood color.  These kinds of reds always feel classy, edgy and sexy to me.  The formula on this was nice, no complaints here.  As with most reds, be careful when applying.  Reds tend to make cleanup a little harder.  This is 2 coats.

The second color to be added this coming January is Midnight Cowboy, a beautiful navy blue creme.  Formula on this was perfect.  This is 2 coats.

Over all I was very pleased with these.  The formulas were great and I really liked the colors.  I'm discovering that I really love a classic creme finish.  It was also a nice surprise to find that Cirque Colors has a lovely lavender scent.  I kept sniffing my nails.  I thought I was going crazy at first!

The new January additions to The Metropolis Collection will be available from CirqueColors.com starting January 2, 2015.  Make sure to check out the Cirque Colors Facebook and Instagram for updates and information on upcoming releases!

KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

Press Sample

So if you haven't heard, Pantone released the color of the year for 2015: Marsala.  Marsala is a brown with lots of red and pink undertones.  I have to say I'm not too sure how I feel about it.  I don't love it, but I don't really hate it either.  It's hard to tell if it's because I'm not too fond of wearing brown on my fingers, or I really am neutral about the actual color.  Time will tell I suppose.

Of course KBShimmer is right on it and has created a polish inspired by the color of the year called Men Are From Mars-ala.  Even though Marsala may not be my favorite color, you can't help but to love Men Are From Mars-ala because HOLO!  You can never go wrong with a holo.  As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever come across an ugly holo.

Application on this is pretty great.  A little on the thick side, but that doesn't detract from the application.

This is 2 coats.

China Glaze Twinkle Collection - My Picks

Hi everyone!  Hope everyone had a merry Christmas, a happy Hanukkah, or just a great December!  I've been meaning to post my selections for the China Glaze Twinkle Collection for Winter 2014 for a while.  I bought them more than a month ago!  Holiday festivities have gotten in the way of posting.  I've been wearing the same polish for a little more than a week now!

First up is Out Like a Light.  This is a dark gray creme and absolutely perfect.  Application was great.  This is one thick coat.

I'd Melt for You is a smooth metallic silver that reminds me quite a bit of Millennium from the Khrome Collection that everyone raved about in 2009.  I'll have to do a comparison post soon.  This is one of those polishes that you should wait for to dry in between coats or it starts to clump a bit and if you have ridges, they show.  I still love it though!  This is 2 coats.

Pine-ing for Glitter has green multi sized glitter in a clear base.  This is it over Out Like a Light.  While I used it as a topper, it can be built up and used alone.  This is one coat.

December to Remember.  I have to say I was disappointed in this color.  It's a frosty blue, with pink shimmer/micro glitter that shifts colors a bit.  The shift looks a lot more obvious in the bottle, but doesn't show much on the nail.  This is 2 coats.

Another glitter from the collection, is Feeling Twinkly.  This is a medium blue micro glitter in a clear base.  It can be layered to opacity or used as a topper.  I used it as a topper here over Out Like a Light.  Love this combo!  This is 1 coat over Out Like a Light.

Last but not least is Meet Me Under the Stars.  This is another favorite!  Black, silver, and a sprinkling of blue micro glitter in a black jelly base.  You can layer it over a darker color or just wear it alone.  Here, I used it alone.  This is 2 coats.

Over all I enjoyed these, especially layering them which is something I don't do often enough.  Did you buy anything from this collection?

Sally Hansen Golden Tourmaline

It's Thursday, so how about a bit of a throwback with Golden Tourmaline from Sally Hansen's Nail Prisms line.  This is where I say I wish they would bring them back.  They had some gorgeous colors and finishes that would fit right in with all the holos and multichromes that are popular now.

Golden Tourmaline is a pinkish red holo.  I bought it 4 years ago because for a while it seemed almost impossible to have a true red holo and this seemed like the closest we'd get to it.  Now with indies, there are quite a few true red holos out there. No regrets buying this though, because it's gorgeous!  These pictures do it no justice.

This is 2 coats.

China Glaze Well Trained

Ever since my beloved Rescue Beauty Lounge Teal was discontinued, I'd been hoping for a polish to come around and replace it.  In comes China Glaze Well Trained from the All Aboard Collection for Fall 2014.  And it's perfection.  This gorgeous creamy teal applies like a dream.  I even used it for some nail art a few months ago.  I think it's a great addition to any collection.

Essie Sable Collar

Hi everyone!

Tonight I have Essie Sable Collar from Essie's Winter 2013 collection.  I've worn it before, but this is my first time sharing it on my blog!  I'm not even sure how to describe this color.  It's almost a mix of brown and purple with a dusty rose colored shimmer and a grayish overtone to it making the entire polish have a dusty muted look.  It really sounds quite complicated, but it's a gorgeous color.  I'm not entirely sure I would have picked this up on my own, but after hearing everyone rave about it on MUA, I had to give it a go and I wasn't disappointed.

Application on this was very nice.  The consistency is perfect and it goes on perfectly smooth.

This is 2 coats.

Dance Legend Knight

Hey everyone!  Today I have one of the first Dance Legends I've purchased.  It definitely wont be the last!

Knight is a multichrome that shifts from a deep gold to green to a bluish purple color.  This is the only multichrome I've come across that has this bluish color in the shift.  It really is stunning.  I apologize in advance for all the pictures, but I couldn't help it!

Application on this was really easy.  It doesn't need to be layered, although I'd like to try it over black.  I will say that it chipped really fast and some of it peeled off in sheets.  This may be attributed to me washing my hair though, so there's that.  The photos below are shown in both artificial and natural (overcast) light.  I find that multichromes always look very "shifty" in cloudy weather.

This is 2 coats.

Indigo Bananas Swatches and Review

Press Sample

I'm so excited about this post, I don't know what to do with myself.  Indigo Bananas.  I've obviously been living under a rock because these are my first polishes from this indie brand and they definitely wont be my last.  It took me forever to get this post together because every time I went to swatch I had to wear them for a full mani.  Let me stop gushing and get to the pictures.

First up is Bridal Veil.  Silver micro metallic flakies and holo glitter.  What more could a girl ask for?  This is 2 coats.

Next is Abby Normal.  This one is a pink the shifts orange and lots of purple shimmer and holo glitter.  It also dries with a textured finish and to add to it's awesomeness, it glows in the dark! This is 2 coats.

Taffeta, Darling? is the lavender version of Bridal Veil and I love it just as much!  It's delicate and in your face all at the same time.  This is 2 coats.

And the last, but most definitely not least is Galactic Halo (Holo) ... the holo version!  I was speechless putting this polish on.  I didn't want to take it off!  Anything you could want, it has.  Holo? Check.  Duochrome? Check.  Metallic Flakies? Check.  This polish is absolutely stunning and there is absolutely nothing like it in my collection at all!  Can you tell I'm in love?  This is 2 coats.

Gabriel Cosmetics Color BLOCKade Collection Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Hope you had a great weekend!  I've been playing a bit of catch up with swatching and I've got lots to show you this week.

Today I'll be showing you the Color BLOCKade Collection from Gabriel Cosmetics.  This collection consists of 5 polishes.  Two shimmers and 3 cremes.

First up is Cashmere.  This is a nice nude taupe shade.  Definitely work appropriate with a little edge.  The first coat was a little streaky, but the second coat made it all go away.  Other than that, no real application issues.  This is 2 coats.

Petrol is my favorite of the bunch!  This is a gorgeous dusty blue.  A bit dustier than my photos show.  No application issues.  Perfect in 2 coats.

Golden Yellow is just that.  Bright yellow with golden shimmer.  It's so pretty.  Yellow and my skin tone just love each other.  The shimmer just slightly peeks out on the nail, but isn't always visible.  Application on this was a little be trickier than the rest, but it's a yellow so that's to be expected.  It wasn't anything too daunting.  The first 2 coats were streaky, but the third evened everything out.  This is 3 coats.

Raspberry is a magenta creme.  It actually borders on being more of a crelly and has more of a gel like finish.  Application on this was absolutely perfect.  This is 2 coats.

And last but not least is Holiday Red.  This is a perfect Christmas party red with golden shimmer warming it up.  This has a nice application.  No complaints.  This is 2 coats.

Overall, this is a nice collection with very nice application and a little something for everyone.  Petrol is my personal favorite of the collection.
