Throwback Thursday: The Original OPI My Private Jet

Hi everyone!  I'm a little behind on swatching, but it's been so long since I've done a Throwback Thursday post that I'm going to play "hookie" and do one anyway.  I love wearing my oldies.

OPI's My Private Jet is a favorite among collectors and if we were going to do a history of polish it would definitely be more than a foot note.  It originally made it's debut as a part of the OPI Night Brights collection released in 2007.  It was a charcoal holo and it's funny to think about it now how rare black holos were when there are tons of them around now.  Anyways, all of a sudden people were finding My Private Jets that looked very different from the original.  The newer one was more brown, but holo was scattered and not really there and some even had a blue flash.  I don't know what OPI was thinking, but the color of My Private Jet has changed at least 3 times.  The polish is now core and I'm not even sure what it looks like now.  I'm just glad I was able to get an original!

And without further ado, the original My Private.  This is 3 coats.

Do you have My Private Jet?  What reformulated polish do you wish they'd change back?

  3. One of my lemmings I have pretty much accepted I will never have. Strangely I don't care for OPI much, but I love collecting their DS and HTF. Your swatches are stunning!

  4. Wow, this is absolutely gorgeous. I hate when companies change formulas - I would immediately go and get this if I could get the one you are wearing lol

    1. Nice! I'm pretty mine is the brown version, but I still love it. I'd love to see you post some of your older polishes on your blog ;)

  8. I'm so jealous you have an original. I have one of the reformulated ones and it's pretty but it's not holo at all.

  10. Whew, how gorgeous is this!! I do not own MPJ in any version. Makes me crazy when makers change a polish and keep the same name!

  13. I love it! I like the color of the new version too but I would like it to have the same holo effect.

  15. Such a lush color, the holo finish is gorgeous. I think I have this one in my stash, but definitely don't give it enough love.

  16. Guh. This is one of my lemmings for sure. I don't know WHY brands insist on reformulating polishes. I'm a firm believer of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

  17. I won 3 different auctions on ebay being told that the polish was the holo version...I got rooked on all 3. It is incredibly annoying to get sooooo excited and to wait in crazy anticipation for packages to arrive only to be let down 3 freaking times. UGH. I gave up on ever finding this one. My long lost lovely. I can't complain too loudly though...I have been pretty lucky to get some of my other drool worthy lemmings such as OPI Mermaids Tears, OPI What's With The Cattitude, all of the OPI Suede polishes including Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow which took forever to find at a halfway reasonable price lol, Milani Dressmaker and all 5 of the Finger Paint flakies to name just a few. So yeah....if I never find MPJ I can still count myself lucky for the lemmings I have found. =)
