Hits Demeter

So today for my notd (nail of the day), I decided to wear Hits Demeter.  It's been sitting in my untried pile for a while and I never wear orange much.  Orange is a color I don't have much of in my collection.  Most oranges (like this one) don't really flatter my skin tone unless it's pastel.

Demeter is a medium orange jelly holo.  The holo is pretty sparse making it look more like a scattered holo.  It's a bit sheer, so it needs to be built up.  Other than that application was perfect.  I'm still on the look out for another orange holo with more flame.  Any suggestions?

This is 4 coats.

China Glaze Side Saddle

Hey everyone!  Today I have a swatch of China Glaze's Side Saddle.  This one comes from one of my favorite China Glaze collections.  Rodeo Diva from fall of 2008.  This collection had some gorgeous vampy glowing shades and this is definitely one of them.  I cant decide if Side Saddle is more brown or plum, but it's definitely a mix of the two with lots of golden shimmer.  It definitely "glows."

As for application this was definitely a bit runny and found it hard to control.  Despite that, it's still one of my favorites!

This is 2 coats.

OPI Gargantuan Green Grape

Hi loves!

After wearing all that sparkly glitter all weekend, I decided to go with something a bit subtle.  I've had Gargantuan Green Grape for a while and just never got around to wearing it.  It's a pastel green creme.  It's a little squishy and not as harsh as a pastel with more white in it.  Lately I've been seeing a more blue version in Ulta.  This doesn't surprise me.  *cough* My Private Jet *cough*

Although the color is gorgeous and I love it, the application wasn't that great.  As with most pastels, it was very streaky and takes a bit of work.  I didn't mind too much because I love the color.

This is 4 coats.

Zoya Magical Pixie Dust Swatches and Review

*press sample*

Hey loves!  I hope your weekend went well!

Today I have the Zoya Magical Pixie Dust collection for Spring 2014.  The collection consists of 3 textured polishes.  Not only are they textured, but Zoya decided to add some bling with medium size hex holo glitter!

First up is Cosmo, the silver of the bunch.  This is 2 coats.

This is with a coat of Gelous and Seche Vite.

Next is Vega, a pale blue.  This is 2 coats.

With a coat of Gelous and Seche Vite.

And last but not least is Lux, a pale pink.  This is 2 coats.

With Gelous and Seche Vite.

All of these were absolutely gorgeous.  They were a bit chunky because of the hex glitters but applied decently.  I found that the hex glitters would sometimes pile up on each other making a clump on the nail.  Other than that, they were perfect and were completely opaque in just 2 coats.  My favorite of them all was actually Lux.  On me it almost looks like a nude glitter.  Vega, on the other hand did not flatter my skin tone.  Surprisingly I actually prefer these with top coat.  Anyone else feel this way?

The Zoya Magical Pixie collection retails for $10 each polish and is available for purchase on the Zoya Website.

These items were sent for my honest review.  For more information, please see my disclosure policy for more details.

Pretty and Polished Sand Art over Essie Marshmallow

I'm writing this while half sleep, so this will be quick.  Today I have Sand Art by Pretty and Polished.  It really does remind me of the colored sand we would pour into to jars as little art projects.  Mine always got mixed up eventually instead of having straight lines and that's what this reminds me of.  A combo of all the sands mixed together.  I really like it.  Sand Art has blue, purple, pink, and green micro glitters.  I layered it over Essie Marshmallow.

This is one coat Sand Art over 3 coats Marshmallow (I should have left it at 2 because things are looking a bit thick)

Essie Bouncer It's Me

Hola!

For today's post I have Essie's Bouncer It's Me from the 2013 Neon collection for summer.  I don't know if it's just me, but this one a quite a bit darker than a lot of swatches I've seen online.  It has me starting to wonder if it was miss labeled.  It's a bright medium blue jelly that applies and dries satiny just like a neon and it was such a pain in the ass.  It wasn't too thick and I didn't have trouble controlling it, but it was streaky and sheer.  It's a pretty color, but definitely not worth the drama.

This is 4 coats.

ManGlaze Santorum

Hi readers!

So today I picked ManGlaze Santorum out of my untrieds.  I rarely wear brown, but I love this polish and I love ManGlaze.  Their polishes are ironically gorgeous, the names are hilarious, and I love the featured art on the bottles.  Also their use of sexual innuendo is second to none.  Its crude and I like it.

Santorum applied perfectly and looks amazing with or without top coat.  I'm wearing it with top coat on my ring fingers as an accent nail.

This is one perfect coat.

China Glaze Let's Do It In 3-D

Hey ya'll!  I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and if you're off today like me, I hope it continues that way!  Today I felt like wearing a holo so I decided to wear Let's Do it in 3-D.  This one is from China Glaze's popular Kaleidoscope collection from 2006.  It's a charcoal scattered holo and I lurve it.

This is 3 coats.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  I was determined to attempt some nail art.  As most of you know I'm not huge on nail art.  I love it, but I'm terrible at it and lack patience so I mostly sit back and admire everyone else's fabulous nail art.

For this look, I used Zoya Sooki, Illamasqua Boosh, Color Club Ruby Slippers, and Orly Fancy Fuchsia.

Hope everyone's day is filled with lots of love no matter where it comes from!

Illamasqua Rampage

I've had this polish for quite some time.  I think I bought it when trying to quench my thirst for Nars Zulu before they re-released it.  I'm sure everyone has seen it a million times, so I'll keep it short.  Green + Jelly finish = LOVE!

This is 2 coats.

Elevation Polish Limestone

I've been lemming this polish since I saw it over at Ida Nails It (if you aren't following her, you need to asap!  She has gorgeous swatches!).  When I went to buy it, it was sold out, but I finally got my hands on it and it does not dissapoint.  Limestone is an off white polish with little gold/copper flecks and shimmers.  I absolutely love it and Elevation Polish is becoming one of my favorite indies.

Aside from being a bit thick, this applied perfectly.

This is 2 coats.

You can buy Elevation Polishes here.  They restock on the 7th and 22nd of every month.  I believe LLarowe also sells Elevation Polish.

BB Couture Bassins Bleu

Today I have a polish that I bought about four years ago called Bassins Bleu.  It was a part of the Hands of Hope collection created after the Haiti earthquake and part of the proceeds went to the Salvation Army's Haiti relief effort.

Bassins Bleu is a turquoise cream.  This is 2 coats.

Hare Midsummer's Midnight

Hey everyone!  Hope you've had a lovely weekend!

Today I have a Hare polish called Midsummer's Midnight.  I bought this one about a year ago.  It has a black jelly base with green and magenta micro glitter, slightly larger green and magenta hex glitter, and blue and purple square glitters.  It's very pretty up close, but far away the black jelly makes it a little plain.  I feel this way about most glitters in a black jelly base though.  It the black jelly never really lets the glitter shine through too much and the black just kind of looks faded.  I think I may like it better over a coat of black.

This is 3 coats.

OPI Brazil Collection . . . My Picks

As I mentioned in a previous post, a bought a few of OPI's Brazil collection for Spring/Summer 2014.  It seems this is the spring of creme polishes.  Both China Glaze and OPI featured them heavily and I'm loving it!

First up is I Just Can't Cope-acabana.  Yellow!  I love yellow and I don't have enough in my collection.  This one is a bright pastel yellow creme.  I was pleasantly surprised by the application.  It wasn't completely horrendous like most yellows.  The first coat was streaky, but things evened out nicely.

This is 3 coats.  Could have been 2 if I was more careful.

Kiss Me I'm Brazilian is a Barbie pink creme.  Not super unique, but I don't have very many pinks in my collection (compared to other colors), so I picked it up.  No complaints about application.

This is 2 coats.

Amazon...Amazoff.  Typical corny OPI name.  This one is a teal that leans a bit more green.  It has a bluish pearl shimmer running through that you can see if you stare long and hard enough.  It's barely noticeable.  I'm not even sure why its there.  This one had a nice application, but it stained the crap out of my nails.

This is 2 coats.

Live.Love.Carnival.  I have to pour out a little acetone for my bottle because it broke not too long after I swatched it.  My camera had a hard time capturing this and freaked out, but it's a bright coral creme.  Its  not my usual choice in colors, but I really like it.  It did streak a little on the first coat, but it evened out nicely.

This is 2 coats.

Don't Bossa Nova Me Around is a slightly pink nude.  Its kind of like the pinker version of My Vampire is Buff which means I love this!  It had a nice application.  Better than what I remember My Vampire is Buff being like.

This is 2 coats.

And finally we have Where Did Suzi's Man-go?  They just can't resist putting Suzi's name in every collection can they?  Name aside, this is my favorite of all the ones I picked up.  I just can't resist these kinds of oranges.  It's a bright pastel orange.  It did streak a little, but otherwise had a nice application.

This is 2 coats.

Overall, I loved the polishes I bought from this collection.  Which ones do you plan on getting?
