Barielle Jetsetter Collection for Fall/Winter 2014

Press Sample

About a month ago, I showed you swatches of Barielle's Me Couture Collection that they released for the Fall/Winter season.  Today I have another called the Jetsetter Collection that they have also released for Fall/Winter.  Jetsetter has 4 cremes and 2 shimmers.  Lets get to the review!

First up is Gondola Ride, a gorgeous sage green.  It reminds me of a lighter version of OPI's Uh Oh Roll Down the Window.  Application was nice, but it didn't self level  as well as I'd like.  It's fine once it's top coated.  This is 2 coats.

Rain in Spain is a pale bluish lavender color.  I love this one as well.  Applied nicely.  This is 2 coats.

Kiss Me Kate is a pinkish tan nude.  It pulled very pink on me.  I think this may now be my go to nude!  This applied very well.  This is 2 coats.

Irish Eyes is another green in this collection.  This one is a bit of a dusty moss green.  No application complaints.  This is 2 coats.

Midnight in Paris is the first shimmer of the collection.  This is a deep, dark blue with blue/blurple shimmer.  This pulls a bit more purple in real life.  Nice application.  This is 2 coats.

And last but not least, is Autumn in Seoul.  This one is a bronze, gold, copper shimmer.  No complaints about application.  This is 2 coats.

Over all this is a nice little collection.  True to Barielle form, application on these were very nice.  Although I used 2 coats for these pictures, almost all, except Autumn in Seoul, could be nice and opaque in 1 thick coat.  My favorites are Kiss Me Kate, Rain in Spain and Irish Eyes.

Barielle can be purchased from Barielle.com and retail for $8.00 USD.

OPI Comet Loves Cupid

The week is almost over!  And since it's Thursday, how about a little throw back.  I felt like wearing a classic bright red and I've had this sitting waiting to be tried since the collection came out.  Comet Loves Cupid is from the OPI Holiday Wishes collection for Winter 2009 and is long discontinued.  (I've seen it floating around on Ebay though.)  Holiday Wishes had some gems.

Comet Loves Cupid is a juicy bright red cream.  The formula was a little thin, but otherwise perfect and really only needed 1 coat, but I used 2 out of habit.

This is 2 coats.  What's your favorite holiday red?

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Something

Happy Wednesday!  We made it!

I've been wearing lots of dark and vampy colors lately so I decided to switch it up a little with something lighter.  I've had Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Something in my collection for quite some time and this is my first time wearing it (surprise surprise!).  I bought it before they changed their bottles to the new wider rectangle bottles.  This same color is still available though.

Something is a pale sky blue with gray undertones and my photos make look a tad brighter than it really is. I won't comment on the formula because I'm not sure if the formula changed with the newer bottles.

This is 3 coats.

Fair Maiden Polish Be Your Own Heroine

Hi everyone!

Today I have a polish from new indie polish brand Fair Maiden Polish.  They recently opened and I decided to try it out and bought Be Your Own Heroine a week or 2 ago.

Be Your Own Heroine is a purple gray color with pinkish purple shimmer and holo.  I can't say I have anything like it in my collection.

Application was nice.  It is on the thicker side and goes on perfectly smooth with no streaking.

This is 2 coats.

Overall I'm pretty impressed, especially for a new indie.  Shipping was prompt.  Everything seems cohesive and well thought out.  Almost as if they've done this before.

You can buy Be Your Own Heroine and others from FairMaidenPolish.com for $9 USD.

Finger Paints Queen for a Day

Hi everyone!  I haven't posted much this week since things have been crazy, but today I have just a quick post of Finger Paints Queen for a Day.  I haven't been in Sally Beauty for a while, and when I went in to look at some of the new China Glaze, I saw this lovely mixed in with the winter collection.

Queen for a Day is from Finger Paint's Fall 2014 collection.  In the bottle it appears duochrome, shifting from blue to purple and a little green, but the shift doesn't really translate well.  It also has what I'd like to call micro flakies (these kept trying to hide from my camera).

Application was nice.  It was thicker than I expected, but not in a bad way, making it a 1 coater.  Don't you just love an unexpected 1 coater, or am I just being weird lol?

This is 1 coat.

Zoya Ignite Collection Fall 2014 Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Hope everyone is having a great week so far and happy Veteran's Day to all the vets out there!

Today I have the second half of Zoya's Fall Collection.  (Check out Entice.)  Ignite consists of 6 polishes, all of which are shimmers with gold flecks and shimmer.  Let's get on to the swatches!

Remy is the blue of the collection with lots of gold shimmer.  Because of the deep blue base, the shimmer almost looks turquoise in the bottle.  Simply put, it's gorgeous (I'll be saying this a lot).  Application was great and it's a 1 coater!

Teigen is a "pink toned cranberry" with more of those gold shimmer flecks.  Application was nice.  No complaints.  This is 2 coats.

Sansa is a dark purple with lots of gold shimmer.  This is definitely one of my favorites.  No complaints about application. This is 2 coats.

Autumn is somewhere between a metalic and shimmer.  It's a reddish orange color (reminiscent of fallen autumn leaves) and has gold flecks throughout.  This isn't a polish I'd normally pick out, but I ended up really liking this one.  I love how it has flashes of gold twinkling through it.  Application was nice, but it does require a little more finesse so to avoid brush strokes.  This is 2 coats.

Yuna is the gray of this collection and an instant favorite.  This dark gray is made special by the greenish gold shimmer in it.  Application was good.  This is 2 coats.

And last, but for sure not least, is India.  This is such a classy color to me.  It's a deep red with lots of gold shimmer and in the bottle there seems to be hits of bits of blue shimmer (which isn't visible on the nail).  Nice application.  This is 2 coats.

Overall, this collection is a definite winner.  Zoya really does do these types of finishes very well.  I can honestly say that I enjoyed every single polish in this collection.  My favorites are Yuna, Sansa, India, and Remy.

The Ignite Collection is currently available on Zoya.com and retails for $9 USD.  Zoya is currently running a special on the Ignite, Entice, Naturel, and Naturel 2.  Polishes from these collections are buy one get one free with the code BFF.  This special ends 11/12/14 (11:59 ET).

Finger Paints Twisted

Hi everyone!  Hope your week is going well.

I little while ago I had someone send me an email complaining that I post too many discontinued items.  I normally post what I have on my nails at the moment.  That's really what I initially started this blog for and that's what I'll continue to post along with some collections.

So heads up everyone, this post contains pictures of a discontinued polish and that polish is Finger Paints Twisted.  This came out in the 2012 Special Effects collection that consisted of 5 flakie glitters in a clear base.  Twisted is a combo of different flakies.  It was definitely not like any of the other flakies I had, so I had to have it and hunted it down at Sallys.  Totally worth it.  Today I'm wearing it over black and matted it with Essie Matte About You.

This is 2 coats over black. Matte.

This is 2 coats over black.  Shiny.  (I have no idea what happened to it's "face."  This always happens to my Finger Paints and China Glaze bottles.  Does this happen to anyone else?)

Milani Enchanted Garnet

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!  Today I have Milani Enchanted Garnet from their Bedazzled Collection for Fall 2014.

Enchanted Garnet is one of those glowing ember type polishes with a blackened base and lots of red shimmer.  Very vampy.  No matter how many colors i have like this, I can't help buying more!  This one reminds me a bit of OPI Royal Rajah Ruby.

Application on this was good.  It goes on sheer in the first coat, but quickly builds up.

This is 2 coats.
