OPI Done Out in Deco

Hey everyone!  I hope you've had a great weekend! Mine was lovely.  I took a little mini vacation to Santa Barbara and loved it!

Today I have for you Done Out in Deco from OPI's South Beach collection for Spring/Summer 2009.  It's a greyed out lavender that leans a little blue.  It's work appropriate but still a little edgy.  Love it!

Application was nice.  I can't complain at all.

This is 2 coats.

Orly Lucky Duck

I hope every one is enjoying their weekend so far!  Today I have Lucky Duck from Orly's Birds of a Feather collection for Fall 2011.  It's a dusty green cream that leans a little teal.  I reminds me of OPI Jade is the New Black.

Application was nice.  No complaints there.

Nubar Orange Cream Reswatch

Today I have a reswatch of Nubar Orange Cream that I posted 4 years ago.  I can't believe my blog has turned 4 without me realizing it!  Anyways, for some reason a few of the pictures from my blogs early days have gone missing, so I've decided to reswatch a few.

Orange Cream was a part of the Pastel Fever Collection for Spring 2009.  I think this one is still one of my favorite orange creams.  I love bright pastels.  And since it's a white based polish, it comes with all the biggest issue that plague these types.  Streaky-ness.  First two coats are full of streaks, but by the third it all works out.  I love it anyways.  It really pops against my skin tone.

This is 3 coats.

Essie Ruby Slippers

Another throw back Thursday post for ya'll today!  This time it's Essie Ruby Slippers.  It seems like several brands have polishes named ruby slippers or some varient.  It has red glitters in a deep red jelly base.  Compared to China Glaze Ruby Slippers, the base is definitely deeper.  I'm not sure when this one originally came out or what collection it's from, but it's older than 2006.  This bottle, like older Essies, has no "e" on the cap.  It's definitely not big 3 free.

Application on this was a little thick, but it's an old polish.  What can you expect?  And since it's a glitter, 2 coats of thick topcoat to get rid of the roughness!

This is 3 coats.

Simple Nail Art: Saran Wrap Mani

I wanted to do a little nail art, but I'm lazy.  Saran Wrap mani to the rescue!  This was actually my first time trying this and it was so easy.

For this manicure I used  2 coats of China Glaze Grape Pop for the base and China Glaze 2030 (I wish I'd gotten back ups of this) on top.

Zoya Magical PixieDust for Summer 2014

                                                                                                                                            *press sample

Hey lovlies!

Today I have for you Zoya's Summer Magical PixieDust.  Like the spring Magical PixieDust, these are textured with an added oomph: holo glitter!  Holo glitter is always perfect in the sun.

First is Bar.  This is the nude of the bunch.  From the promo pictures, it looked like it was going to be more gold, but this is nice as well.  I've also seen it look more golden on other skin tones.

This is 3 coats.

Arlo is the most bold of the three.  It's a reddish purple, along the same color lines as Binx.

This was a nice collection, but I think I still prefer the Magical Pixies with topcoat since this particular texture is a bit rough to me.  Application on these was consistent.  They are a bit on the thick side and need to dry a bit between coats or the glitter will clump up a bit.  If I had to choose just one, I'd have to say Ginni is my favorite.  So delicate with a dash of holo attitude.  I loved it!

Zoya Magical Pixies are available for purchase from their website www.zoya.com for $10 per polish.

L.A. Girl 3D Effects Sparkle Ruby

Yet another polish being rescued from the infamous untried pile.  I couple of years ago LA Girls came out with it's 3D Effects collection which consisted of scattered holos.  Sparkle Ruby is the red of the bunch.  I'm in love with it and I'm wondering why I don't own the whole collection.  The holo isn't super obvious and the jelly base it's in almost makes it look like silver flecks covered in red instead of holo.

Application on this was very nice.  Cleaning up is another story, but reds just tend to get all up in the cuticle.

This is 2 coats.

China Glaze Meteor Shower

So since it's Thursday, I decided to put on sort of a throwback.  China Glaze Meteor Shower.  This one comes from that collection China Glaze put out in 2009 that consisted of 50 glitters.  I was so pumped when they came out with all those glitters and I wish I could have gotten them all.  I think most of them are discontinued now.

Meteor Shower has a very dark navy base filled with opalescent glitters.  Now I'm going to be blunt, the formula on this was HORRIBLE.  It was in desperate need of thinner (of course I've run out) and it had somewhat of a mud like consistency.  But let's face it, this polish is going on 5 years old and some it may have evaporated a bit.  I don't remember it being this hard to apply.

This glitter is also a top coat eater.  I used a coat of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite and after drying, it's still not as smooth as I like it.  I expected that.  Over all it's a lovely polish.

This is 2 coats.

Wet n Wild A Day in Venice

A Day in Venice is a limited edition polish from Wet n Wild's All Access Beauty Collection for Summer 2014.  It's a pretty yellow cream with a bit of "squishiness."  Crelly if you will.

Since it's a crelly, it showed a bit of vnl (visible nail line) even at 3 coats.  Despite this, the application was pretty decent.  I did have a hard time with the brush.  I normally don't have a problem with wide brushes, but the bristles on this one was just all over the place and I ended up having to do more clean up than normal.

This is 4 coats.

Crows Toes Huginn & Muninn

Today I have for you Crows Toes' Huginn & Muninn.  Now, I must admit I had to google what Huginn & Muninn was because I had never heard these names before.  Apparently they are apart of Norse mythology.  They're ravens that fly around the world bringing information to Odin, a Norse god of wisdom.  Huginn (pronounced HOO-gin) is Old Norse for "thought" while Muninn (pronounced MOO-gin) means "memory." (source: Wikipedia)

Huginn & Muninn is a part of Crows Toes' latest collection.  It's a gorgeous duochrome.  Who doesn't love a good duochrome?  This one has a dark blue base and it shifts from green to purple.  The duochrome in this is pretty strong, but looks best in the shade or at certain angles.  When looking at it straight on, it often looks like a purple shimmer.  Still gorgeous.

Application on this was nice.  It was pretty opaque and layering definitely isn't required.

This is 3 coats.
