Twinsie Tuesday - Favorite Discontinued Polish

It's Twinsie Tuesday and today we're talking about our favorite discontinued polish. I've actually blogged about quite a few of these in my Throwback Thursday posts and I guest posted my absolute favorite, OPI DS Glamour, over on Amandaladish's blog a couple of months ago.  So this won't be my absolute favorite, but a favorite. Unfortunately there are just way too many fabulous discontinued polishes out there and I still had a hard time picking one, but I'm going with China Glaze Emerald Sparkle.

Emerald Sparkle is like the deep green version of the ever popular China Glaze Ruby Pumps.  It's green, it's glittery, it has lots of depth and it's discontinued! To add insult to injury one of the batches was a dud (while it's not ugly, it's not green glitter jelly goodness).  It originally came out as a part of the Holiday 2008 collection, but was limited edition. China Glaze if you're reading this (which they probably aren't), bring it back a long with one in every color!

Cirque Colors Metropolis Collection for April 2015

Press Sample

Hi everyone! Hope your week started off well! Today I have the April additions to Cirque Colors' Metropolis Collection.  Every month Cirque Colors releases one or two creme polishes that have been inspired by the city of New York.  This month's colors are Vigo and Sunset Park.

Vigo is described as an "orchid pink creme."  It's the perfect Radiant Orchid color that was last year's color of the year.  I had no application issues with this one.  This is 2 coats.

Sunset Park is a beautiful bright coral creme.  This will definitely be going on my toes this summer!  I love corals like this!  Again, nice application.  This is 2 coats.

Both of these are lovely, but Sunset Park has my heart! It's the perfect spring/summer color! Vigo and Sunset Park will be available from CirqueColors.com starting April 1st and will retail for $13 USD each.  Make sure to follow Cirque Colors for the latest updates on upcoming collections!

What do you think of these colors?  Will you be getting any?

Spring Nail Art Featuring Zoya Tiana

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  About a month ago Zoya asked some bloggers to create some nail art with polish from their Delight Collection.  My color is Tiana, a beautiful pastel green creme which was one of my favorites from the collection.  Since it's spring, I decided to go with some simple flowers.

zoya tiana flower nail art

zoya tiana flower nail art

zoya tiana flower nail art

Colors Used:

  • Zoya Tiana
  • Zoya Dana
  • Zoya Pippa
How I did it:
  1. Paint your nails with Zoya Tiana and allow to completely dry.
  2. Put a few drops of Zoya Dana on a piece of plastic, or paper plate, etc.
  3. Using a dotting tool or a bobby pin place five dots of Zoya Dana in a circle on the corner of your nail, then put a dot of Dana in the center.  Do this on all of your nails.
  4. For your accent nail, repeat #3 until you have the desired amount of flowers.  Then place random dots of Dana and Pippa between the flowers
  5. Top coat it and you're done!
You can always skip the accent nail and  just have a flower in the corner on all of your nails.  Have a great weekend!

Firecracker Lacquer Everyone I Love is Dead Collection (partial)

Press Sample

Hi everyone! Hope you've been having a great week. It's almost Friday! Today I have a few of Firecracker Lacquer's Everyone I Love is Dead Collection.  Can you guess what popular tv/book series this was inspired by?

First up is Water Black as Night.  It's a bright almost neon green with lots of green shimmer and some holo glitters.  It also glows green in the dark.  This one is on the sheer side, but does build up and has a nice application.  It dries gritty and needs an extra layer or 2 of topcoat if you want more of a smooth surface.  This is 3 coats.

Can Your Sword Cut Cold is another one that glows in the dark, but this one glows blue.  In the light it's a sheer milky blue with blue shimmer and blue holo hex glitter.  I'm thinking it would be nice layered over a baby blue creme.  Although sheer, it has a nice application.  This is 3 coats.

How to Kill a Mountain is a pale buttercup yellow/off white creme with red hex glitter.  I'd love to have the base on it's own because I'm a sucker for colors like this.  The first coat is streaky, but it builds nicely.  This is 3 coats.

The last one that I have is A Marriage Marred by Murder.  This one is a red jelly black and silver glitter and green shards.  The green shards end up looking black in the red base though.  Application was nice, but I got the occasional shard that just didn't want to lay still.  This is 3 coats.

I have to say my favorite of these four is A Marriage Marred by Murder.  Can't wait to see swatches of the rest of the collection.  There are 7 in total.  The Everyone I Love is Dead Collection will be available April 2nd 6pm MST at https://www.etsy.com/shop/FirecrackerLacquer.  For more info be sure to check them out here:

Glam Polish Mesmerize

You guys, I messed up.

I've been avoiding this brand for the longest. I've been cutting back on how much polish I buy and we all know indies make that hard. Well after being constantly bombarded with pictures of the White Witch Collection, I caved and bought one (along with Run and Tell That) and I both love and hate myself.  It's so pretty and now I want the rest of the collection!  My wallets tellin' me no, but my bodys (nails) tellin' me yes lol!

Mesmerize is a beautiful, slightly grayed lavender.  It's creamy and packed with every different size of silver holo glitter imaginable.  On me, because of the grayed lavender, it manages to be subtle from afar but in your face at the same time with all that holo.  It also applies very nicely. The glitters don't clump together and it's the perfect consistency.

This is 2 coats.

Twinsie Tuesday - Pinterest Inspiration

Hi everyone! I'm finally able to paint my nails again without screaming from getting acetone in this cut I got on my finger and just in time for Twinsie Tuesday. Today is all about Pinterest inspiration and mine came from PiggieLuv who does amazing nail art that I wouldn't even try replicating, but she had this "simple" look pinned that I thought I could replicate. I attempted to recreate her Neon Sugar Spun nails and failed so hard lol.  I almost didn't even post today because I hated how these came out.  It looked so much easier in the tutorial! I kept getting blobs of polish, or it wasn't stringy enough, or I let it dry too much, the neon orange didn't quite translate over black (make sure you use creamy neons or it wont pop!), etc. I'll try these again one day because I really do love the inspiration.

Nailed it!

Twinsie Tuesday - St. Patrick's Day

Hi everyone! Today I had every intention of doing some nail art, but I cut my finger while chopping onions last night.  Yay me!  So today you get a simple look but still in the St. Patrick's Day spirit.  I even managed to blur out the cut for you guys :)

I used 2 coats of Elevation Polish Hinglajgarh Forest (discontinued), which is a creamy, holo, medium/light green and as an accent I used 3 coats of Orly Bling, a gold, holo micro glitter in a clear base.

Pahlish March Duo - Ticker Tape Parade

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  I've been meaning to make the post for the past few days, but the weather has been insanely warm (I'm talking getting up to the 90s) and I've been enjoying it the past few days as well as studying for finals.

Today I have Pahlish's March Duo collectively called Ticker Tape Parade.

Tissue Paper Flowers has a white cream base with lots of pastel blue, pink and purple flecks.  My mom likes crafting and has some tissue paper like this.  I love having it in polish form.  It's very pretty!  Application was flawless. Good whites are hard to find and I'd love to have the plain white base as well (hint hint lol).  This is 2 coats.

Confetti Cannon is the glitter of the duo.  This one has a beautiful mix of blues, purples and pinks in varies shades and shapes.  It looks great over Tissue Paper Flowers and would probably look lovely over black as well as other colors.  No application issues here and it dries pretty smooth for a glitter.  This is 1 coat over Tissue Paper Flowers.

The March Duo will be restocked today, March 15th on Pahlish.com at 7pm Central (and throughout the month) and retails for $16 USD.  Don't forget to follow Pahlish for more info on restocks and new collections here:

Black, White and Gold Triangle Nail Art

I've been trying to try my hand at a little more nail art lately and I love black and gold together, so I came up with this look!  For most of my nails I used the Saran Wrap method and for my accent nail I made my own triangle decals.

black gold white triangle decals saran wrap nail art

black gold white triangle saran wrap nail art

For this look I used these polishes:
-China Glaze Snow
-China Glaze Mingle with Kringle
-China Glaze Liquid Leather

Saran Wrap Method:
  1. Paint your nails white and let it dry
  2. Get 2 pieces of Saran Wrap and ball them up.
  3. Paint a section of the saran wrap ball with Liquid Leather and dab on a piece of paper to take off some of the excess and then dab on your nails until you get the look you want.
  4. Repeat #3, but with Mingle with Kringle (or another gold).
  5. Seal with top coat and you're done!
Triangle Decals:
  1. On a plastic bag paint 2 strips of polish in Liquid Leather and Mingle with Kringle.
  2. After letting it dry for a minute or two, paint over with them with a quick dry top coat like Seche Vite.
  3. After it's completely dry, peel them off the plastic bag and cut into triangles.
  4. Press them on your nails and top with top coat!
I definitely had fun doing this look and can't wait to dabble in a little more nail art!

Twinsie Tuesday - Soft and Feminine

Today's Twinsie Tuesday is all about soft and feminine.  I chose to use my favorite "my nails but better" shade OPI I Theodora You.  It has that translucent look but builds up, isn't streaky and most importantly, hides my stained yellow nails.  I should probably get a back up.  For that extra "dainty" touch I used China Glaze Golden Enchantment.

This is 3 coats I Theodora You with one coat of Golden Enchantment.

Elevation Polish Spam Pt. 2

Press Sample

Hey everyone!  Hope you had a good weekend!  Today I have a few more polishes to show you from Elevation Polish

Pic de Sotllo is beautiful crelly blue that's both bright and dark all at once.  Though it is a little thick, it applies easily and smoothly.  Also don't forget the top coat since this dries with a satin finish.  This is 2 coats.

Pata Puffer II is glitter in a clear base.  The glitters are of varying shapes and sizes and are all pink, purple and magenta.  It's glitter heavy and needs a thick top coat to make things nice and smooth.  I layered 1 coat over Elevation Polish Limestone.

Next is Sunset among the Palms.  This one is a magenta color with a bit of holo and some dark colored flakies.  I've been wearing this all weekend.  It's gorgeous!  Application was lovely, no complaints.  This is 2 coats.

And last but not least is Uluru, a reddish orange coral jelly with gold and pink micro fleck shimmer.  It's a jelly so it's a little on the sheerer side, but it's so squishy and bright.  Definitely a go to summer color!  This is 3 coats. (2 is perfectly fine, but my camera seems to have x-ray vision lol)

All of these are core and available on the website!  Be sure to check Elevation Polish out at the following places for more info and updates!

Last is Oh, Tiff!, a tiffany blue creme.  This one has the slightest hint of shimmer but it isn't very visible on the nail.  This one was a tad streaky on the first 2 coats.  With this one it's best to wait between coats.  This is 3 coats.
