Essie Armed and Ready

Armed and Ready is from Essie's Go Overboard collection for Spring 2012.  I don't know what took me so long to wear this, because it's gorgeous!

I've seen a lot of people describe this as a green, but to me it's more gray than anything.  Maybe more of a green toned gray.  It also has this lovely copper/gold shimmer that really makes it pretty.  The shimmer is not as apparent in darker/indoor lighting, but I wouldn't call it a "hidden shimmer" either.

No complaints about application; it went on pretty smooth.

This is 2 coats.

China Glaze Call of the Wild

It's been a long time!  My nails have been breaking left and right and I haven't felt much like doing my nails.  My nails are super nubs, so of course I had to put on a vampy polish.

China Glaze Call of the Wild isn't anything super special or unique.  It's just a nice basic dark reddish brown cream.  Perfect for short nails and I'm loving it.

I had a hard time painting my nails, but this had nothing to do with the formula.  The formula is nice, but again, nothing to write home about.

Zoya Neeka

Zoya Neeka is absolutely gorgeous and the following pictures do it  no justice.  Neeka is another one of those gray/purple colors, but with glass flecks.  I love it.

Ever since I found a topcoat/base combo that works with Zoya, I've been loving them (not like that stopped me from buying the pretty colors).  Application was normal, so no complaints.

This is 2 coats.

OPI Malaga Wine

Malaga Wine is a gorgeous classic red.  I'm not sure when this came out, but I believe it's apart of the core line.

Malaga Wine is a cool toned red and it's a little bit of a jelly.  It's also super shiny.  I have the old black label one so I won't comment on the formula.

Also, can I vent a little?  Now I love to keep my nails in a square shape, but it drives me up the damn wall when an edge chips off (see middle finger).  And it always happens when I'm opening a drawer or turning on a faucet.  Does this happen to anyone else?  Does anyone have any advice?

Anyways, this is 3 coats (could have gotten away with 2).

Nails Inc. Baker Street and Tony Moly GI04 Halloween Orange

Today I have two manis to show you.  First up is Nails Inc. Baker Street.

I don't know why it took me so long to buy this.  It's absolutely gorgeous and electric.  Easily one of my favorite blues.  Unfortunately my camera has managed to only take inaccurate photos, but I'm going to show them to you anyways.  The color is a bit darker and the blue has a bit more purple in it in real life.

This is 2 coats (great smooth application).

Next up is my Halloween mani.  I wore Tony Moly Halloween Orange over black.  It kind of reminds me of Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects How Corny

How Corny is a part of the limited edition Halloween collection.  I was also released last year.  I skipped it last year so I decided to try this one out this year.  It's basically candy corn pieces with a shimmery white back ground.  The whole design has more of a pearl almost frosty look.  I really wanted to like these, but the pearl/frost stops that from happening.  It also prevents it from standing out from further distances.  I think they'd be much better as a creme finish.

Application was the same as all the other Salon Effects I've tried.

Pretty and Polished Jawbreaker

I'm in love with this polish!  It's a jelly sandwich in a bottle and it really does look like a jawbreaker.  It makes me feel nostalgic.  When I was a kid, my mom bout me a huge one when we went to Disneyworld.  I swear I was eating that thing for weeks.  I was determined to get to the center (which I did).

Mine was a little on the thick side but it goes on smooth and the larger glitters come out easily.  I didn't have to fish for them.  I did 3 coats, but could have probably gotten away with 2.

Throw Back Thursday: China Glaze Fortune Teller

Today's Throw Back mani is China Glaze Fortune Teller.  It's from the 2009 Halloween collection and was a Sally Beauty exclusive.  I remember having to ge to a few Sally's to find this one, but it's my first time wearing it!

Fortune Teller has different sized orange hex glitter along with normal sized square glitter all in a black base.  I love it!

Application was good.  It wasn't to thick.  It is bumpy so I used Gelous and Seche.

This is 2 coats.

HARE The Sky Was Pink

I meant to post this yesterday, but work and school got in the way.  So without further ado, The Sky Was Pink.

It's a pretty almost magenta, pink with blue, pink (the same color as the base), and periwinkle glitter.  It's a jelly but it was surprisingly opaque enough to wear on it's own.

I have no complaints about the application.  It went on smooth and dried fairly quickly.

This is 2 coats.

a england Saint George

a england's Saint George is pure perfection.  It's a gorgeous teal that looks more shimmery than holo but I don't care.  The holo particles give it a certain depth and in some lighting you can see a bit of a rainbow.  Can you tell I'm in love?

Application was great.  It nearly applied itself.  The only bad thing I have to say about this polish is that it stains a bit.

This is one coat.

Throw Back Thursday: MAC Peppermint Patti

For Throw Back Thursday, I have MAC Peppermint Patti.  It came out sometime in 2009 and promptly sold out.  Subsequently, the mint craze followed.

Now, it's not exactly the most unique polish out there, but it makes me feel a little nostalgic lol.

The application was just a hot streaky mess.  The formula on this is not the greatest, but I managed.

This is 3 coats.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Plie

I'm not normally into neutrals, but Plie is absolutely gorgeous and I'm in love.  It looks so elegant and fits with my skin tone perfectly.  Most others are too gray or brown.

Application was okay.  It's not opaque in one coat like other Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes I've come in contact with, but it went on nicely.

So what are some of your favorite neutrals?

This is 3 coats (could have gotten away with 2).

Essie Power Clutch and Different Dimension 50 Shades

Today I decided to do a little layering.  First I used Essie Power Clutch.  It's a dark gray creme and it's gorgeous.  Application was great though I'm not a huge fan of Essie's brush.

This is 2 coats.

Then I layered 50 Shades from Different Dimension.  Different shades is full of glitter.  There's holo hex shaped glitter of a few different sizes, some shredded black and silver glitter, and some black glitter.  It's all in a clear gray base with shimmer.  The shimmer kind of reminds me of the kind that's in Lynderella Connect the Dots.

Zoya Indigo

Today I have on Zoya Indigo.  I bought this about 4 years ago and I'm just now getting around to it.  Don't judge me.

Indigo is from the Downtown collection for Fall 2007.  It's a deep dark blue shimmer with tiny holo sparkles.  Unfortunately the little sparkles don't quite show on the nail much, which is disappointing, but it's still a pretty color.

I tried a different top coat to avoid shrinkage.  This time it was Revlon's top coat.  No shrinkage, but ended up with sheet marks even though I thought it was dry.  Next time I'll do a coat of Revlon and then a coat of Seche Vite or Poshe.  I'm determined to make Zoya work for me.  They have some AMAZING colors.

Application was nice.  No complaints.

This is 2 coats.

Blurry to show some of the sparkle.  Kind of failed lol.

Designer Piggies: Pacman

Today I tried out these cute water nail decals from Designer Piggies in the Pacman design.

Per the instructions I painted my nails with white and cut the decals to fit my nails.  After my polish dried, I wet the back of the decals, slide them off and placed them on my nails.  The decals come off the backing really easily so you don't tear them when you slide them off.

The inner nerd in me loves this design and I've gotten tons of complements on them already.

These do have a bit of a learning curve.  I stretched mine on my nail a bit which made it look like I have cracks in the design.  They aren't really visible, but of course macro makes it look more obvious.

All in all I like these and plan on purchasing a Halloween set.

You can find these and other designs here.
